I would recommend you check the community to see if it is the right fit for your loved one. The value for the money is good here. The staff communication has been good with the family. They are always helpful when the family has questions. There are three meals a day, and the food is great. The chef is friendly and a good guy. When we toured the community there was transportation for the residents to take to shopping and doctor appointments. It would be nice to have this going again for the residents to utilize. The activities director left and they are trying to get them started again. There are activities listed on their website, but they aren't all going on. They do have board games and a couple other activities. My loved one would like to stay more engaged then they currently are.... Read more

My dad likes his new place. He says that the cook makes the best food. He's never late for the breakfast, lunch and dinner. He lets me know how great it is. He's happy that he feels like he's still at home.

Overall experience - not great. They have only cleaned the couple of times I've been there. The friendliness of the staff depends on who you talk to some good some not so good. The care services are so-so. The meals and dining is ok. With the activities, it is not as active as I thought it would be. Value for cost - went from [fee removed] up to [fee removed] very quickly.

One of the reasons we chose Brookdale West St. Paul was because they have a pendant emergency call button system (some of the other places we looked at didn't). The staff are friendly and attentive. I feel like they really care about my loved one and his needs. They have plenty of activities - I just wish they would come and get him and encourage him to participate more. But we've been really happy there, and he's generally happy as well.

They took care of my loved and communicated very well. They need to improve on the activities. It was a very good place. Overall, I would recommend to other families.

They could really work to improve their communication within their staff and to actually follow through with the things that have been promised. They need to be more proactive with our loved ones basic needs and to actually give the level of care that is expected. They say they are engaged with their spiritual, emotional and physical well being but they are not. They need to train their staff better, they can be very bossy and sassy.

We chose Brookdale West St. Paul because I liked [name removed], she was the one who contacted me when we started looking. We took a while to find a place and she always called to follow up and answered all of my questions that I had. I also liked that the facility is all on one level, if she had to go into memory care it is the exact same layout so it would be familiar to her. I would recommend them to others looking.

They were not able to care for my husband the way that he needed it. If you are in good physical condition it is a good place to go. If you require more attention and need help this is not a good place to go. They are very low on staff also which makes things difficult.

The staff provide attentive and patient care for my mom at Brookdale West St. Paul. When we are unable to visit with our mom face to face the staff assists us with the clothing or supplies we bring for mom and they answer all of our questions. I am comforted to know mom is well looked after during these stressful times. I would highly recommend Brookdale West St Paul to others looking for a comfortable and loving home for their family member in need.

A Place for Mom has scored Brookdale West St. Paul Assisted Living 7.7 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
