Brookdale West Melbourne AL

Overall experience - we felt lucky to find a place without a waiting list. The move in went well and my aunt was happy. We have no specific issues regarding cleanliness although things can always be better, particularly in the nooks and crannies. My aunt is happy with the cleanliness. The staff are very friendly. We have no issues with this. My aunt seems to get the care she needs. We have no issues with her care. My aunt appreciates the flexibility of the kitchen and their willingness to adapt their menu to her needs. She has no complaints. On occasion I have dined at the facility and found the food somewhat bland. My aunt is 97 and nearly blind so she doesn't participate in most activities. She says that the facility is too quiet and would like more music even if it is just the radio playing in the common area. This is difficult to quantify as we don't have any comparables. We do find it expensive as monthly expenses exceed my aunt's monthly income. Fortunately, she has some savings that can cover the excess costs.

We like the activities for my mom. They really include her in the daily activities and based on the experience we have had, we would recommend them to other families.

Brookdale is an excellent senior living community with great attention to detail and friendly staff members. We're very pleased with them and mom loves it there.

It's a nice facility. It's not the most expensive and it's not the least expensive. The food is good. The facility is clean. They could change out the carpets they're a little warm but all in all it's clean. No foul odors. They provide all the basic services and our resident is very happy there. He likes the central location. So we're happy.

While we were there, the staff was consistent and very friendly. My parents enjoy every meal. When they moved in, the maintenance man helped with the TV and other items. We would recommend this facility to other families. We don't have any worries about our parents.

We are very happy with the care mom is receiving. The facility is small and has a true sense of community. Staff is excellent! Meals are okay, could be improved.

The facility is nice but I think they are understaffed

Just like everywhere else they were understaffed at times but we really did think the care givers did an awesome job, we felt they did the best that they could and they really cared for their residents. We were able to have some meals with our loved one and the meals were excellent. Our only complaint was with their billing - we felt they should of been more proactive and stayed on top of the billing more when our loved one started to decline.

It has been a very good experience. I like the cafeteria approach meaning that the services that you may need for a small period of time wasn't permanent. Also they had a great move-in specials that allowed my loved one to get the largest apartment.

The community is very clean and does not have that nursing home smell and her room felt very cozy right away, and has a little kitchenette which she really enjoys. The staff members are very friendly and they have wonderful people there. However the food is very mundane, the meals could improve and have a more balanced diet. Also the activities are still pretty limited and we wish they would encourage our loved one more to get our and about.

If you have a person that needs assisted living and wants to be able to smoke also this is the place for them to go. She is able to go outside and smoke and go as she pleases and that was one of the biggest things for my loved one.

This is a very affordable community for my loved one. The food could be a little better. They don't really have a lot of activities at all, they could use a lot of improvement in this area. The staff are very nice. It really is a nice facility that could just use a few updates.

My mother is quite content here especially with the nurses. The staff at Brookdale is excellent and are all very friendly. The activities director at Brookdale is one of the best parts of the community! While expensive, we do think it is worth the price at Brookdale West Melbourne and it is a good value.

We are still wondering if this is the right step for us. Brookdale rooms too small for 2 people. I may not have made it clear I was looking for both of us.

The particular building I toured was very old. I would want a newer building.

Great community. The care staff truly care for all the residents

I had my mom move in December and moved her out January. The facility is now well kept. There is no place for residents to walk outside. There is an out door area, very small, where folks can sit. One chair. The rooms are small and depressing, the daily activities are very basic and do not promote any mental or physical stimulation. Coloring, Bingo and balloon toss. That's about it. The food is served only at 3 specific times per day and it is not nutritious or appealing. I was very supprised at the quality of food served. The staff could use a reboot and the front door is always locked and you must wait for an attendant to let you in and out. There is a 3K non- refundable "community fee" that we now must pay event though we move mom out in one month. Shame!
