My loved one is a resident at Brookdale Waxahachie and this facility has been a blessing! They saved my loved one from being in a subpar place. I will always be grateful to Brookdale! No one complains about negative behaviors. It is just accepted as part of the process. The resident's family is always treated as part of the Brookdale family with respect and kindness. The move in process was easy. The housekeeping is okay. The housekeeper works very hard, she probably needs some help. Brookdale is a big place! I would definitely recommend Brookdale Waxahachie to others. The biggest pluses for me are the always caring and loving staff. Everyone is kind ..no exceptions. Also, the layout of the unit allows the residents the freedom to be themselves with no restraints.... Read more

This facility should be avoided at all costs. The rates quoted were not accurate. Before moving in we were given a written notice for fees that was later ignored with bills for services that were not rendered. Attempts to resolve this were met with denial that the previous meetings took place despite the presence of multiple witnesses. Our father only stayed for 6 weeks while family was out of the country and unable to visit. During the short stay, our father fell out of bed and fractured his shoulder. The night staff came by once and gave him a pillow and left him on the floor. When we returned he was in very poor condition with multiple open wounds from falls that had not been treated.

At first I thought that Brookdale would be a great placement for [name removed]. However, the carpet in the rooms is a problem especially for someone who is incontinent. Most memory care units have tile on the floors. Also, while while I initially thought the long hallway would be good for people who wander, the problem came when I realized it was just too big. They rely a lot on cameras which is not sufficient. Brookdale's memory care unit is just too big a place to monitor someone who has advanced memory care issues. I personally think that for a person in advanced Alzheimer's with behavior issues, skilled nursing is the best option.

If a friend asked about our experience I would say at first it was exceptional but after several turnovers in staff everything seems to be going downhill. I will not complain about the staff that assists in the caregiving because they are phenomenal though most are new (only two staff members remain from when our loved one first moved in). The caregiving staff do care very much and are doing the best they can considering the situation. The management part has gone through various changes and we are hoping that the new team can turn things around. However, we plan on looking at other places to see if they are better for our loved one.

Brookdale has been a good place for my husband. However, they have little to no activities. No exercises for the memory care. The staff is very friendly. Always agree with you but limited when following through. The memory care is normally clean and not smelly. However, I would like to see the common areas clean more often. I would recommend this facility, but with warning that there are no activities or exercises for the memory care area.

We have complained about the food and with no results. I know of 4 people here who have moved to Arabella in the last 6 months. The caregivers are far and few between. They either quit because of the work they have to do or don't have enough training to do the work. It's safe for all the residents. If I had known it was this bad I would have found a better place. But my kids don't care and don't help me so I'm just stuck.

There are some good things and some bad things about Brookdale. It is not getting better. The facility looks good and is clean, but the choices of what food we get are not great and there is never enough of staff to take care of everyone. Residents are constantly needing help and complaining all the time. I have been very unhappy and have gained 20 pounds because the food is not that great. All will agree.

In May of 2022 my sister's Alzheimers meant that she needed to go into Assisted Living in the Waxahachie area. Since I live in another country I had no idea which facility to choose for her. So I researched online and called friends for suggestions of where my sister would get the best care. Brookdale Waxahachie was the name that kept coming up across a whole range of inquiries. Although it was not the most modern facility I moved my sister there. This turned out to be a great decision because my sister loves it. She is involved in the activities on offer, has made friends, and tells me the food is really good! Also, the staff keep me informed if there is anything she needs. As you can imagine, it is a HUGE relief for me to know she is not only safe, but thriving in her new home!

The staff at Brookdale are caring and supportive of their residents. The way they welcomed our mom was very comforting and so reassuring not only to mom, but to the family as well. Communication with the family is top notch. They are quick to respond about any concerns or requests made by/for the resident. What gives us the greatest comfort is in the way they really get to know each resident-idiosyncrasies and all. They also provide us helpful information on how to interact with mom in this new and unknown Alzheimer's journey we have all unwillingly been placed in. One of the most heartfelt pieces of information they conveyed really put this journey into context. They told us that at this point in mom's life she is no longer really living in "our" world, but rather, we are learning to live in hers. How profound. Thank you [name removed] for this insightful advice. At Brookdale we know Mom is in good, caring hands.

This was an okay community. The rooms were dark and we wanted something more bright and light.

This facility is absolutely wonderful, we've been so happy with it! Everybody is wonderful here, I can't say enough about it. The facility itself is beautiful. The first time I walked into this place I just knew it was the one. The kindness, the whole vibe. When you know, you know. It was such a relief, I literally cried. This is such a huge decision to make for your loved one and I know we made the right decision for dad. The staff is amazing, they really work with me on anything and everything. Communication with the family is very good. The food is great. I visit twice a week and I've witnesses some very impressive meals, I don't even make some of the great things they serve! Housekeeping does a great job. It's never dirty and always smells fresh and clean. I would recommend this place to ANYBODY!

My mom has been here since [date removed]. Until [time frame removed] her care was awesome. Something has changed and made this facility subpar. We have complained five times about mom not being bathed and her room smelling. They blame hospice but if hospice doesn’t do the job, then this care facility is suppose to do the work. I can’t imagine what mom would look like if her care was left entirely up to Brookdale staff. I asked to speak to the two who are in charge and one was in a meeting and the other has a 2.5 hour phone call. I will update this review if things get better or worse. Also, if I am able to speak to [name removed] or [name removed] and get some resolution. Please do not leave your parents here or anywhere without daily visits from family. If you skip a day…things always get worse.

Our tour with Brookdale Waxahachie was awesome and we really liked the staff and overall feel of the community. It was under construction so kind of hard to tell what it was going to look like, but it looked like it was going to be very nice. The only reason we did not go with this facility was just because my loved one was on insulin and they were not able to accommodate that.
Beautiful, home-like community with friendly staff. This is a very comfortable environment with a great reputation for excellent care.
I provide services to a resident here, so I visit weekly and I have to say, this is the nicest group of people that work here. They care so much about their residents and they keep the residents safe and happy.
My dad has a new found meaning in life since he moved to this place. He was living at home alone after my mom died. He is able to have meals prepared for him every day. We are so thankful for them.
All of the caregivers and nurses did a wonderful job taking care of our loved one. I told all of my friends and family, just cant say enough good things.
I am so happy I chose to bring my dad here. After meeting the team, we decided to join the Brookdale family.
My aunt lives in this community and we cannot say enough about how caring the staff is there.
The main entrance was very pretty and lots of flowers but there was several people sitting around in wheelchairs. Looked like a nursing home. Not impressed

We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
