My mother spent two weeks at Brookdale of Troy in a respite room after a bad fall. The staff was excellent, working with me on very short notice to find a room for her. The care staff was attentive and compassionate. Unfortunate, my mother did not enjoy the food at all and wouldn't go back for primarily that reason.

October 10, 2024Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. By giving us your feedback, you are helping us to understand what we do well and what we could focus on improving. Please be assured your feedback will be reviewed and used to help better serve our residents and their families.
They had some very caring people, but often there were not enough people to provide complete care for everyone--a staffing issue, not individual competence or dedication. They could improve by providing residents with regular activities to socialize in the evening with supervision and support would be helpful. Often, I felt like residents were restless in the evening and had energy that could have been channeled productively instead of through wandering through the halls.

With Brookdale Troy, we instantly felt like family.[Names removed] are fabulous! Very knowledgeable and helpful! [Name removed], the "go to guy" is awesome! He helps everyone and we appreciate all he has done for us on the move-in day to the random fixes that my dad has needed. [Name removed], the nurse, is super sweet and dad immediately liked her. Dad needed his toe looked at, and the doctor was there the very next day. The entire staff is very friendly! And I truly appreciate each and every one of them for what they do. The food/menu seems delicious to me. Dad thinks it's a little bland. I understand you're catering to all of the residents, so I get it. One thing dad always mentions is he wishes for more chocolate ice cream! Ha! (Don't we all though?) Move in was a breeze! [Name removed] was at the door to greet us and had a little 'welcome basket' waiting for dad! [Name removed], like I said was amazing! I would highly recommend Brookdale Troy. It's not all glitz and glamor, but it makes up with the cozy at-home feeling!

The care givers are generally outstanding. However, there is a lack of stability in the management of the facility which is particularly an issue for 2nd and 3d shift operations. None of these facilities are perfect; however, if I knew of the management issues that apparently have been ongoing since the end of Covid, not sure I would have considered them /moved my loved one there.

November 29, 2023Thank you for choosing Brookdale and taking the time to share your feedback. We would welcome an opportunity to discuss any concerns you may have and encourage you to contact our management team.
My loved one is currently a resident at Brookdale Troy. He thinks that the place is beautiful. His main complaint is the food (tasteless, not enough fiber) and he does not think that he should be in a place that has mostly memory impaired people. No one talks to him. My loved one has no cognitive impairments at almost 100 years old, is very sharp and loves to have conversations with people. He plans on leaving Brookdale Troy and going home before the end of the year. If he needs to be in a care facility in the future, he will need to be in a place where the residents are not very cognitively impaired and have the capacity to provide company and friendship.

Yes certainly, it was very good I was able to find respite and they were a 5 out of 5 very caring attentive and went above and beyond for myself and my mom. Yes absolutely 100% recommend this community to others based on the experience we have had so far. Very caring staff, highly recommend because they went above and beyond my expectations. Took excellent care of my mom, great respite experience.

Memory Care side of business needs improvements. Staff shortages. Meal selection not the best for elderly. Recent flood compromises services. We picked this community because of location mainly. First impression was very good.

We picked this community, because, they had immediate availability, were able to provide required care services, and price. No place is perfect, but Brookdale tried very hard to meet the needs of my dad. They are easy to work with, have a good facility, and are caring/nurturing. I would return, if the need was there.

Overall, Brookdale Troy is not a bad place. But there's room for improvement, especially on the communication side, cleanliness, and care. I think they could give showers more often. I have to call and ask about it often, which is frustrating.

We liked the community. We would have picked this community if my family members didn't hate the location. The manager there was awesome and I loved the atmosphere-very homey.
I would tell others looking into Brookdale Troy that it is a very attractive facility. There is a wonderful outside area with plenty of room for the residents. The staff have been great. It is an enjoyable place to live and we would recommend Brookdale to others looking.

Unfortunately our loved one did not stay long and even though she was resistant to go in the first place she really ended up liking Brookdale as did our family. The staff were very friendly and communicative. The community was always nice and clean and she really did like all the meals that were provided so they did a great job there

So far our experience has been very good with Brookdale Troy. The staff communication with the family is good. The community provides an anytime menu such as hamburgers, sandwiches, and more. This menu is available anytime and the residents are able to choose from this menu at anytime during the day, and not just at meal times. The food seems to be good for my loved one. The community provides three meals a day and they are good at reminding the residents to go to the dining room to eat. The community has been accommodating to my loved one and have brought the meals to my loved one when needed. They keep the community up nicely, and have beautiful grounds. They turned one of the rooms into a sports room for the residents to utilize for games. The community feels welcoming. There is a happy hour weekly with live music. They are providing a Father's Day event in the courtyard for the family to visit with their loved ones. I would recommend the community to others for their loved ones.

They had a good follow up after our tour. The only downfall was the community was small for our loved ones.

December 22, 2021Thank you for taking the time to visit and share your feedback.
We had a fantastic tour with Brookdale. The staff were great to talk to and really wanted to get to know our loved one and her needs. We were very impressed.
I believe the community has some work to do. I would recommend you keep your options open. They don't have activities for the residents, and this could be improved on. The housekeeping that is for the resident's rooms is very sparse. There has been management team turnover and they raised our rate by 13% in the first 60 days.

It is a safe and clean community. They are good about keeping me updated on my loved one's care. The staff have a weekly meeting about where the resident's are with their care and what needs to happen.

A Place for Mom has scored Brookdale Troy 7.9 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
