I participate in activities with residents. We have a Bible Fellowship time every week where the residents can come and sing and listen to a teaching if they want. Many puzzle and play cards together.

Since relocating my advanced Alzheimer's mom to this facility from another one, she has received excellent care. The caregivers seem to truly care about the residents. Any problems are immediately resolved!

From our first visit to tour Brookdale Trail Ridge we were impressed. Walking the halls we could see that a lot of time and love went into giving it a homey feel. It smelled like Christmas. The entire facility is for residents with dementia or Alzheimer’s. All residents are allowed to walk throughout the home, inside as well as outside. There are 4 “neighborhoods” and each neighborhood has specific staff assigned to them. Kitchen staff to serve 3 meals a day, cleaners to change bedding and to straighten their rooms, and care givers to help them shower. Familiarity is important for people with Alzheimer’s and they work hard to keep the staff consistent. The staff are trained how to talk to people with Alzheimer’s. They literally treat the residents as if they were their own grandparents. When one of them says something outrageous that obviously isn’t true, the staff doesn’t argue or correct them. They simply say “Oh is that right?” Or “wow that’s amazing”. This leaves the person feeling good and diminishes any reason to be upset. During the 15 months that our father was there we slept peacefully, knowing that he was well taken care of. There were some bumps in the road, he had his share of trips to the hospital because he refused to use his walker. Luckily each time was minor and he was sent back the next day if not the same day. One thing I want to mention, due to dad’s condition we decided to sign up for Hospice Care with Assisteo Hospice. Having a nurse who came once or twice a week to shower him, check his physical condition, and to be another familiar face gave us more peace of mind. Each one was great about calling when there was a problem, often they would call just to touch base and let us know how dad was doing. Two of the nurses, [names removed], were with him during his last 6 months. They snapped selfies with him and sent them to us. On his birthday they showed up with balloons and a decorated birthday cupcake. Dad really loved those two. Even when he began to forget some of our family’s names, he always remembered their names.

My mother has been here for approximately 2 years. While we find most of the staff to be kind there is not nearly enough to care for the amount of patients they board. Most of the patients are dumped by their families and are not visited often. That is not the case with my family (youngest of 9). There is someone with my mother most days for a large part of the day. In recent months we have found the care severely lacking. My mother has been found soiled and dirty. She has been left for hours sitting up in her wheelchair, unable to hold her head up due to excessive medication. She is mostly non-verbal now and cannot communicate her needs when she needs help. If a child had been found with a dirty diaper for hours at a daycare, the daycare would be held accountable. Where is the justice here?

Response from Brookdale Trail Ridge
July 1, 2024We take your comments seriously and are committed to providing quality care and services to our residents. We would welcome an opportunity to discuss any concerns you may have and hope you will contact our management team to discuss further.
The integrity of the staff with/for my husband and for us, his family, is hard to beat. They are well equipped to handle the situations that may arise with his care. I have not had a meal there, but it always looks good and healthy, hence no number.

The facility was a good place. It was very clean. The staff wasn't extremely friendly at first, but they warmed up to us. Mom was a tough cookie, but they got to know her and took good care of her. We were very happy with the care she received here. Communication with the family was good, they called often. Housekeeping was great and her room was always very clean and smelled good. The food seemed ok. I would recommend them to family and friends.

The demographics were just not a good fit. The facility is older and more run down and when we came to tour it smelled really bad which I know is not their fault. We had a residents following us around and yelling and no one was tending to him. They showed a shared room and there was a weird wall in between which makes sense but it took up so much space that you do not have any room to put anything in there and make it feel homey. The private rooms they showed us were even smaller.
Response from Brookdale Trail Ridge
April 15, 2022We appreciate you taking the time to visit our community, and we have shared your feedback with our management team.
We chose Brookdale Trail Ridge because they already have all tech if we need it and it was very nice when we visited, everyone was friendly. The room sizes are adequate for what she needs. She really enjoys the food that is served here, they are prepared on site. I would recommend to others looking.

The community is very clean but they don't do a lot for the residence. this is a memory care facility but I feel I would not recommend this community at the moment to others. like they need to provide more care for the residence.

After a short stay my loved one no longer wanted to be here. I pulled them out of the community per my loved one's request.
We toured this community. The staff was nice and able to answer the questions that we had. We did not like the environment of the layout. We liked that they did have some activities. I would recommend that families tour the community for the care of a loved one's needs.

This property out of all the different ones I had looked at for my mother in law was probably on the bottom of the list. I have no major complaints but everything was just okay. It looked like they have not done any updating in some time and everything seemed to be old. They where also very full and had no availability for my mother.

We are very happy so far! Staff is very nice, lots of activities. My aunt is making friends lots of residents for her to speak with. The community had a St. Patrick's day celebration for the residents and their families. We loved it! The food was great, no complaints. They also provided activities for the residents on Easter Sunday. Overall we are pleased with our choice.

A Place for Mom has scored Brookdale Trail Ridge 9.4 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
