Brookdale Salem serves residents and families in Salem, Oregon, and surrounding areas like Marion County and the Polk County region of Willamette Valley in northwestern Oregon. The community specializes in supporting residents with different types of dementia and offers premiere memory care services. Here, residents have access to two memory care programs including the Clare Bridge and Solace program.
The Clare Bridge program is an exclusive brand of dementia care. It was established more than 30 years ago and provides residents with six planned activities each day to promote and preserve the use of their current skills. The Solace program provides additional support to residents in the later stages of dementia. It includes elements of the Clare Bridge, but offers even more services including grooming assistance, and opportunities to engage in aromatherapy and sensory activities, as well as music.
Residents often find comfort knowing their safety and needs are priorities here. Staff is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to be alerted to an emergency. An emergency alert system, secured entrances and exits, as well as an enclosed outdoor courtyard and garden are also used on site as additional ways to heighten security.
During mealtimes, residents can look forward...

My loved one was a resident at this facility and we had a terrible experience. The supervision was bad. They did not keep other residents from wandering into rooms and scaring my loved one. They did not listen to food preferences and my loved one vomited each time they gave her the food that she stated she didn't like. They did not refund all of our money. We would not recommend this facility. If someone is sent here, the family needs to check up on them frequently.

April 2, 2023We take your comments seriously and appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback. Our staff is committed to providing the highest-quality service and care and we will share your feedback with our management team.
They are very clean, staff is very personable. From what have seen in the activities, they are very geared towards the residents abilities. They seem to have adequate staffing. Definitely do your homework and research before deciding on the location in which your loved one's would be staying at.

Here's the thing I am beyond happy of how well they take care of my dad. He was at another memory care and it felt like a lot of the caregivers had very little experience with dementia. At Brookdale they KNOW my dad. They can tell the second something is "off" or wrong and they take care of it even if they have to call 911. They really care about him and he cares about them too. Brookdale is such a blessing to me because they help me so much too. I also love that they have a nurse practitioner that comes there for check ups especially since Dad doesn't always want to leave. I can't recommend Brookdale enough. I am so grateful to everyone that works there.

The first time I walked into Brookdale I felt that it would be a good place to bring my aunt for her memory care needs. The more I talked with the staff, the more I was convinced of this. [name removed]. obviously cares deeply for the clients and is committed to her work of helping others. [name removed]. solved some very important problems for me very quickly, and runs a very clean and compassionate facility. [name removed] was the second person I met at Brookdale and he’s amazing at his job. [name removed]. made a special effort to make my aunt feel cared for, and really connected with her. From the time I moved her into Brookdale Salem, until she passed (not alone, the staff made certain), my aunt received excellent care. Thank you so much to these caregivers and the rest of the team for making a difficult time as pleasant as possible for my loved one. I appreciate them.

My exercise with Brookdale was when I dropped my mom off around 9:30 pm on Sunday evening, The all female staff of four helped my mom out of car. They were so pleasant and kind I could see that my mom will be well cared for . Brookdale trains their staff to care for the residents. My confidence is through the roof.
Our family had an in person tour and the experience was great but there was just something about Brookdale Salem that wasn't going to the best fit for our loved one.
I think the staff was very friendly at Brookdale Salem. Everybody is generally shuffled together to the dining room, activities, TV rooms, etc. As far as my observation, there was not much more to it. My dad missed meals and activities frequently, he was not wanting to engage with the residents who were there. It was not the right fit for him.

October 6, 2021Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. By giving us your feedback, you are helping us to understand what we do well and what we need to focus on improving. Please be assured your feedback will be reviewed and used to help better serve our residents and their families.
Overall community is clean, and the staff members are friendly. The care services are pretty good as well as the meals and dining service. We do not know what activities they have going on right now but we have received pictures of our loved one watching movies with other residents. We were excepting a little more for the value but they do a great job keeping us informed with everything that is going on.

We chose Brookdale Salem because they allowed my mom to bring her cat, there was good feedback on communication, and there was a spin down option with medicaid so if she runs out of assets she will be able to stay. The staff members have been very helpful and upfront with me. I get an activities schedule so I know that they have a lot of things going on for the residents. They are very good about calling you to let you know what is going on with your loved one. I would definitely recommend to others looking.

My biggest issue is that they need more staff in the community, and I would like to see the food quality increase. I would definitely recommend this community to others

Absolutely a great place. My 93 year old mom has been living there over 1 year and though she does have dementia she’s very happy there. The caregivers are great. The programs coordinator [name removed] and her side kick [name removed] are excellent. Even though Covid is a huge concern they find ways to keep the residence safe yet still engaged, entertained and happy. [name removed] the head house-keeper is caring, kind and up beat. I’m very impressed with the executive director [name removed], her love and care for the residence is clearly seen. Brookdale Salem truly is a wonderful home for our loved ones.

I find the personnel very friendly and helpful. Their handling of drugs is disturbing. I would much rather buy my wife's prescriptions than have to go through their high priced pharmacy. There are almost continuous activities for her. One problem I find is there is no individual heat controls in the individual rooms. I think there should be more parking. There are only about 5 or 6 spaces near the front door. Other than that all the curbs are red painted -- no parking. I thing the food they service is a cut above what I expected. My wife complains about about other residents going around the halls screaming at night. Very disturbing and wakes her often.

Well-kept, pleasant surroundings, but confusing layout for dementia patient. Several residents complained of being cold in the dining room.

This community was nice and clean. The staff answered my questions and I was told I could come eat with my mom and then LEAVE..... That made my decision right there I didn't feel safe with that being said so we chose a better community.

This community is very nice however it is solely memory care they have no assisted living and mom isn't there yet but we do recognize that she is moving in that direction. The community was nice and the staff was nice but we knew that at the present time this was not the place for mom she is still functioning at a assisted living level

We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
