They have a high turnover especially in Dining so Dad says the meals are hit and miss. Same with most other positions. It's always someone new when I visit for lots of positions in nursing care. But they are always very kind and helpful. I wish they paid more so folks would stick around. They do keep the place clean and take good care of Dad. He's happy and only complains when a meal is particularly bad. The front desk ladies are wonderful and so friendly. [name removed] in the office is so easy to work with. The new nurse is very kind and likable. I know it's hard for them to keep people but the ones they have are great.

For months they did not have a social Director or a bus driver. The residents were planning their own activities as best they could. Finally, they got a social Director and then that last a bus driver. It is better now, but it shouldn't have taken that long. My loved one is happy there with their care and the activities now.

We recently moved my mother and father in law into the Assisted Living, which we were very happy with, it’s Lovely! We now moved my mother in law into their Memory Care area. So far we are not thrilled. It is getting better, but still is not meeting our expectations. In their defense, they seem to be working hard to change several issues. I would absolutely recommend the Assisted. Hopefully, we can soon leave a good review about their Memory care.

I don't have anything to compare the overall value to...I mean it is really expensive. And everything is a cost increase. The base price is high and then they add more for anything else you need. $[removed]+ for medication management, $[removed] to remind the resident to eat (not escort, just remind) and it gets a bit out of hand. But i understand that is the norm. Overall I would recommend Brookdale. The people are friendly and the grounds are pretty.

What our family likes the most about Brookdale River Valley is the welcoming attitude of the community and the small size of the community

The staff they have were mostly helpful. Just not enough staff. Slow to respond to requests. The food definitely needed an upgrade.

I asked before moving parents if they were fully staffed....better question would have been how many care takers are normally available for how many residents? Or- What is the ratio of caretakers to residents? I would only recommend Brookdale if someone is independent would this facility work. Anyone who needs mobility help. Never recommend.

Very nice staff. Took a little while to get the hang of things for my mom. Other residents were helpful. They could upgrade the menu and make it taste better. It's ok but not even close to being in balance with the monthly rates . It's kind of closer to cafeteria food. Not home food

Our experience was unique as we blindly moved our loved one from NV to OR. They were most helpful at obtaining the right resources to make the move possible. They are a fairly new administration staff, so naturally there are some areas they can improve: organization, communication, etc. I hold a management position, so it comes naturally for me to ask the questions needed to know how to navigate the care for our loved one. Other people might struggle with getting a transparent understanding of the situation. Our loved one consistently complains about the food. We have not eaten there with them yet to know for ourselves. They also have dementia and naturally complain about life. The move in process was extremely informal. It would have been nice to have scheduled a precise window for a meeting; especially, since we never toured the place. The resident was given a tour, but not her family. With dementia, we have to know as much as her to assist. We also weren't introduced to the administration staff and care givers. I felt comfortable enough introducing myself to friendly faces to get familiar with them. Housekeeping seems to be good. Now that I have made a point to ask when it was and have a sign on our loved one's door so she can have a reminder of when it is; the same for laundry. It took 3-weeks for me to have to ask when it was so she could know. Once again, unorganized and NOT informative. The facility was tacking on services that weren't agreed upon or discussed with the family. We gave our loved one the dignity to sign the paperwork as a tenant with us being POA. The facility knows she has dementia, so it would have felt more trusting if they were initially communicating with us. They have dropped some services and took half off other services. Would I recommend, not sure at this point. We are happy to keep her there for the moment but honestly, we have one foot in and one out so to speak.

I would recommend it to someone. They bent over backwards to get Dad in very quick. We were pressed for time to get him out of his living situation and they were amazing. [name removed] took great care of us and made it happen.

My loved one was supposed to move into Brookdale River Valley Tualatin and was declined hours before moving in because they felt that they didn't have the staff to help my loved one. It broke my loved one's heart and wasn't her fault. The friendliness at this facility felt fake. I wouldn't recommend Brookdale River Valley Tualatin to others. You don't treat a terminal person like they treated or handled my loved one's situation.

It is generally good, however, they should be able to provide activities and outings. The facility was the nicest and residents told us they liked it. Thank you for your services! They were great!

Brookdale River Valley always gives excuses of being short staffed for things not being done. Our loved one has not always receiving the care she and Medicare pay for in a timely manner. Based on the experience we have had so far with the Brookdale River Valley community, we would not recommend them to other families.

The staff at Brookdale River Valley Tualatin is absolutely amazing. There's no turnover. My mom was in the Memory Care unit. I was there constantly and at all different times of the day. The care and behavior was consistent and fabulous. I was at this facility so much that I actually made good friends. My mom passed away at age 99 and had a very good ending. I would recommend this facility to others.

Wouldn't recommend very nice staff but short handed. Ok for independent living but not assistant living. Didn't keep family inform if there was a problem. I picked this community, because only one available at the time.

Our experience was Awful. Brookdale did not provide any sort of care for my Dad and required us to pay for additional 24/7 care while he lived there. We will likely be filing a complaint with the State.

My mom is a resident at Brookdale River Valley Tualatin. They do not clean the rooms very often. And when they do, it's not really clean. They often do not know when my mom is there or not. I would tell people to NOT take their family there. If we could move my mom, we probably would. But we can't deal with that right now.

Our family had an in person tour with Brookdale River Valley and we thought it looked like a really good community and it was definitely a top contender for our loved one
My added thoughts: For the first 2 months my mom felt pretty lost. She wasn't acclimated to her new environment very well. It took many conversations to get the management to understand this. But then they kicked in and have done a good job. It was the little stuff, like where to go for what, who was taking her to the dining room and what time, when she should press her button for assistance, etc. The staff is wonderful. Very kind and helpful to my mom. They do a great job with cleaning, laundry and helping mom with personal needs. Lots of very nice residents and their pets as well. I don't eat there so can't comment too much on dining but mom doesn't complain so must be fine. Only two things that I can say that could use some attention and those are communication between the different departments and one of the receptionists would probably be better in a different position, behind the scenes.
