The first time Mom was at Brookdale, she seemed to really like it, although she fell the first night and was taken to the hospital for precaution. She was there two weeks, and they loved her. [name removed] was especially fond of her and called several times and even came over with Thanksgiving dinner for both of us! This last visit was short, and Mom just stayed in her room except for meals. My sister found her alone in the bathroom (a definite no-no), and she wasn't given all her meds even though I had a doctors order. They also set her up with a home nurse and physical therapist without notifying anyone in the family. Something about a sore on her back.

Brookdale is a great place for mom. The food is very tasty and has multiple choices for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There are activities almost every day for the occupants to do and the staff is very friendly. There is a great outdoor area in the middle of the facility with both screened in area and sun exposed garden with seating in both sections. The staff is also very caring about the well-being of all the occupants. Any changes with the occupants the family is notified and if corrective medication is needed there are doctors that frequently will help the nursing staff make the changes to ensure the best quality of life.

I’ve been pleasantly blessed to tour such a great community! From the fine dining experience, to transportation to appointments, Friday shopping days, all the way back to the attentiveness of all the care staff and nurses. We couldn’t have stumbled upon a better place to move my mother in when the time comes!

My mother was in need and so I visited Brookdale Port Charlotte. The team welcomed me into their family. Kim took the time to get to know my mom and me. The building/apartment were bright, clean and most of all ... it only one floor. There are no elevators or steps. Everything is convenient and easily located. There were lots of activities going on. There was a cooking demonstration by the chef occurring while there and it smelled wonderful. I recommend visiting Brookdale Port Charlotte for your loved one.

We enjoyed our time there. We would definitely recommend the organization to anyone who asked. Staff were friendly and made my dad feel at home. Meals were good. I liked the fact the residents go to a dining room to eat rather than alone in their rooms. Grounds were beautiful, courtyard was fantastic.

Both of my parents died at the end of 2023, dad in October and mom in November. So I don't know how things are now. But when mom and dad were there, the staff were really friendly and took great care of mom and dad. I definitely recommend Brookdale Port Charlotte to anyone looking for assisted living.

Our 96-year-old dad had to be moved from in-home 24/7 care to assisted care living. Brookdale Senior Living fit all our requirements extremely well. The facility has only 42 apartments, making it a small close knit community. The facility is very clean and they have, per Dad, very good food and accommodate dietary restrictions. The staff is very caring and usually goes above and beyond their job roles to assist the residents. Dad is very happy and does not regret his move at all.

We are grateful to the care that the staff has provided for my dad. The staff are friendly and communication has been excellent. It’s never easy to leave a love one in the care of others. I am happy to see how my dad has improved from the first day. I wouldn’t trust anyone else Sincerely.

My mom stayed at Brookdale in Port Charlotte for 2 weeks. We were going up north and needed respite care. She loved her time there. She made friends, went on outings and said everyone was very friendly. When I picked her she said she would like to go there and stay if the need would arise. I was comfortable in leaving her there and I know I made a great decision in Brookdale.

The community at Brookdale in Port Charlotte is a welcoming place for any loved one who needs extra care. The building has a warm and cozy atmosphere and is kept very clean. My stepfather has been in the community for several years and he is treated with respect and kindness by the staff, nurses and director. We enjoy having peace of mind knowing that Brookdale has a nursing staff as well to assist when needed.

We were very pleased with the staff and facilities. Except for a few hiccups in the beginning, we were very happy with the care my mom received. Based on the experience we have had so far with the Brookdale Port Charlotte community, we would recommend them to other families!

It's a lovely facility. The only thing for me is my mom went into this facility taking her own medication and within two weeks of being there they took it away from her and started giving it to her. I am her POA and never heard about this until they had already had my mother sign a paper and she still isn't sure what she signed. I talked to them about this and they told me she wasn't taking them properly. Since they have been giving them she has not felt well and tells me she is not receiving all of them. I am up in Pennsylvania right now so this will be something I have to take care of when I get back to Florida. The purpose of me putting her in assisted living was so my life would get back to some normalcy and instead I am spending my time arguing about things I don't believe they need to be doing.

We picked this community, because it's one floor, inside garden and residents and staff are visualStaff are really pleasant and try to work well with the residents.Rules have changed since moving in, regarding distance to doctors which was never mentioned and regulations setup about smoking that was not brought to our attention although they might have been indicated in literature handed out at time of joining. I do like the staff and community so I would recommend it as a place to stay if asked.

The tours were great. Everyone I met with was fantastic. Everyone was friendly, informative and completely understood what I was doing through. They were so kind. We just found another facility that was a better value for the money.
Our family had an in person tour with Brookdale Port Charlotte and the tour experience was okay. It was not updated, not clean, and a nasty experience in the restroom. It was just not a nice clean place.
Response from Brookdale Port Charlotte
May 12, 2023We are sorry to hear your tour of Brookdale Port Charlotte did not meet your expectations. We want to thank you for taking the time to visit and provide feedback. Our staff is committed to providing the highest-quality service and care and we will share your feedback with our management team.
They really care about the residents and family members and are very friendly. The food is very delicious. I believe they may be understaffed. I think of they had one more caregiver, care services would be even better

A Place for Mom has scored Brookdale Port Charlotte 9.5 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
