Brookdale Mount Vernon

My loved one was a resident at Brookdale Mount Vernon and overall the experience was good. I rated the staff at a 4 because I saw one caregiver being more rough with my loved one. I settled it with the caregiver and did not report it to management. I will say, based on what I observed, I would rate the rest of the staff at a 5. I cannot rate the activities as my loved one did not care for those.

Definitely need better dining/meals...they can't seem to get a chef that stays any length of time that provides meals that the residents find acceptable. On the other hand they are very caring and go out of their way to help no matter what the issue.

My loved one is currently a resident at Brookdale Mount Vernon and her overall experience at this facility so far has been great! The move in process was easy. The staff are all very friendly. Communication with the family is good. The meals are fine. Overall, things have gone very well. I would recommend Brookdale Mount Vernon to others for Memory Care for their loved one.

The friendliness of the staff at Brookdale Mount Vernon is amazing. I was never greeted like that at dad's previous facility. He is cared for very well. The residences are very clean. I was late getting him moved in, so intended to return the next morning to finish. When I arrived, the night staff had already completed putting things away! As my father is a lifelong vegetarian, I cannot speak to his meals - it's a little difficult to pull off for only a few residents. I can say that he gets enough to eat! Visitors reporting back to me have said that they are amazed at how much he has improved in his current residence. One cannot ask for a better recommendation than that.

Our loved one is currently a resident at Brookdale Mount Vernon. We are very happy with this facility and the experience here so far. All of the staff are very responsive to the needs of the residents and their families. They communicate what will help our loved one and answer questions from the family and respond to us with professionalism and care. The move in was great. Brookdale staff was very helpful and helped us with getting required paperwork, etc.

This facility has been good. They're doing a pretty good job here, we have no complaints. The residents all seem fairly happy. My loved one has made some new friends and she likes living here. Occasionally, she doesn't like the food. Communication with the family has been good. Housekeeping is twice a week, I believe. My loved one is picky about cleanliness, but has had no complaints. They're doing a good job with it! They do offer transportation at an additional cost. I would recommend this facility to family and friends.

Awesome staff!!!! But they are exhausted from working overtime!!! Need more help! There is no way just one person should be doing all they expect from day shift!!!! Not safe for residents or staff!! The food- food was rarely warm NEVER hot! They use tooooooo much Mrs. Dash!!!!!!!!

I would not recommend the community to others for their loved ones. My loved one didn't receive good care. During the short amount of time my loved one was there, my loved one fell several times. My loved one was in pain as well due to having rawness on her body for the lack of care. The staff communication with the family was not very good. They would listen to the concerns or questions; however, the staff wouldn't act on any of the concerns to correct the issues for us.

One of the most important things that we look for is cleanliness and its so clean and there are no odors at all. It does not feel like you are walking into a nursing home, it feels like walking into a resort minus the pool and sauna. The staff members feel very laid back and based on our experience we would recommend Brookdale Mount Vernon to other families.

It's expensive, but my loved one is doing well and is happy! We picked this community, because it was closest to us and everyone was so caring and friendly. They are taking such good and loving care of my loved one. We are sure they're doing well there. Every time we visit, everyone is so nice. Even their maintenance man took an interest in making sure our loved one was comfortable in their new room. When we moved my loved one into memory care one week later, they moved all of their things and set up the room beautifully.

Brookdale Mount Vernon was great. It was a very caring place. I think that they genuinely cared and were not just a business. They did their best to engage the residents. And I thought it was a nice facility.

Toured community. Very nice, clean, friendly, and staff was extremely nice. The resident was exercising with a trainer.

I would recommend the community to others for their loved ones. There were some challenges in getting my loved one settled into the community. There were some issues with medication management set up for our loved one in the beginning. However, I haven't seen any other hiccups since. The executive director was very welcoming on the first day. The room for my loved one was very nice. They allowed the family to move our loved one items into the community quickly as well. The community was able to see that my loved one needed additional care. They have been able to assist with medication management, dressing, and bathing assistance to name a few of the care types offered.

Brookdale has been a pretty decent place for my mom. she's getting good care and the people seem to like their jobs and put forth effort. I especially like how close it is to where I live and the cleanliness. they could improve a little on their staffing, but I understand that's the way things are now. they have very good communication, anytime they do something or something happens I know about it. its a good place for people that need care and there are other people around who are in the same state. they keep an eye on the residents, most people there are friendly and used to caring for those with Alzheimer's or dementia. they know how to care for them better than a nursing home would.

my Mom had a stroke in June 2021, wanted to keep her local in Mount Vernon area, called and talked to the Staff about her moving in , got all my questions answered and they were very helpful especially on the knowledge of the long term care insurance paperwork, Staff is very Friendly and helpful with my Mom's situation, all in all with the Covid situation going on I believe it is working out very well for my Mom Thanks ,

I became familiar with Brookdale in 2015 when I put my neighbor guy Charlie in Brookdale’s care. He was 88 at the time. He was a retired farmer with no family. I was his neighbor and POA .. he fell in love with the place the residents and the staff. That place took wonderful care of my grandpa that I never had but called him as my own. He lived there until he passed on Christmas morning of 2017. I thought I would never see that place again which broke my heart so I kept bringing goodies in for the staff and the residents then in 2019 my other neighbor and his family appointed me [name removed] POA since I was right next door to him my whole life and could help in a minute well long story short he loses his house in a fire loses his wife had a mini stroke and needed nursing home care so I call Brookdale and they just happened to have a room available so I moved him in there from the wonderful experience I had previously. Hands down Brookdale would be highly recommended by me and others

I am so very grateful to the staff at Brookdale Mt. Vernon, where my dad is a resident in Memory Care. From the day he arrived, the staff has encouraged him, supported him, watched over him, laughed with him and they truly care for him as a person. I receive phone calls from the staff if they have a concern or an update. My emails to the staff are always answered promptly.
