Good place for your loved one, mother, father, or spouse. On one floor, good meals, convenient location, near hospital, doctors offices, enough parking. Staff are friendly and helpful. Outside patio and garden.

Very attentive to our needs, above and beyond with communication and understanding. We picked this community because of the employees, they made us feel confident [name removed] would be well taken care of.It was a great choice!

When I first visited Brookdale Alzheimer’s and Memory Care, [name removed] in Sales kindness, empathy and understanding of what I needed for my dad. It took me a while afterwards to realize I had just spoke with someone from sales. She is part of a family there and you really get that feeling with the staff there. My dad thrived there, was checked on and cared for hourly, always clean & his room clean as well (for years we struggled to care for his needs). My dad is still there. Sadly, he went to the hospital and his heart is failing him. I was told I needed to get him hospice services. Immediately, when given choices between a hospice house, hospital, and so on, we thought about asking if he could stay at Brookdale Memory Care. They could accommodate him and a hospice team! He is constantly cared for: shaved, bathed, changed and looked after. The caregivers know him well. I truly never saw a Memory Care as good as this one in my month+ search in

Memory care experience started out good but went downhill. Cost more than the assisted living, so we thought he'd get more attention. too few care givers/aides for the number of residents I think. They were always nice people though. But Dad always was parked alone whenever we visted.

Response from Brookdale Monroe Square Memory Care
April 27, 2023We are sorry to hear we did not meet your expectations and we appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback. The health and well-being of our residents is our top priority and we have shared your concerns with our management team for review.
I'd recommend it- good care and the staff is competent and nice. Sometimes it smells and could do better on getting blankets back to the correct room- particularly when labeled.

We chose Brookdale Monroe Square because I thought it would be the best fit for her condition based on the quality care of care that they provided here. I also had a family member who used to be in management here and it came highly recommended which played a big part in our decision. My wife has been on no medication ever and has had perfect health other than her mind. I did receive a bill from the facility that provides meds and she is now on 5 different kinds of medication so I need to talk to the doctor about what exactly they are for. overall I would recommend this facility.

It depends on how much assistance your loved one needs. I was happy with them except that they couldn't handle my husband. His dementia was further along than they could handle, and he just needed more assistance than they could give. They didn't have the staff for it. But I liked the place. It's clean. They staff are very friendly. The cost is not bad, and I would take him back there again if they had the ability to care for more advanced dementia, Parkinson's, and residents who are fall risks. But they did get him on the right medication, which another doctor couldn't do. He loved the center courtyard where he could go outside. It was so nice. I really liked them in a lot of ways. I wish it had worked out, and I'm disappointed I couldn't take him back there.

I would recommend the community to others for their loved ones. I feel there is room for improvement in areas such as activities. I feel this is a good community compared to others in area for the amount of money each month.

They have started window visits with a microphone so we can see our loved ones. It's in a good location and the city is not too busy, it's centrally located. Depending on your condition I would recommend this facility

I was very disappointed with our experience at BD Monroe. The sales rep assured me as well as the Wellness Director that they could take care of my husband, who is a high functioning, very active resident. He had been there 2 weeks only when the Admin Dir (who I have never spoken to before this encounter) and the Wellness Director notified me that my husband was "not a good fit" for their community then proceeded to tell me that I would either need to come and get my husband or hire a 24 hour sitter to watch him. They didn't have the staff or time to manage him. This facility is supposed to be trained in redirecting and helping engage and make connections with Alz residents. Long story short, I never saw this happen. I had to hire a sitter to "manage" my husband until we could find another place for him. PLEASE be aware that this facility is NOT equipped to redirect and engage with high functioning Alzheimer's patients.

The staff wasted our time. Even after a scheduled appointment, we were not greeted. After 30 minutes and upon leaving, the Executive Directed ask if he could help. We were on his white board for his visit. If the sales pitch is bad and not important - either was the care they were going to provide.

This facility had rooms that were too small, the places smells, and felt dark and depressing. I didn't like the fact that you had assigned meal seating and set time. For the cost it seems expensive for what you are getting.

This looked like a nice clean community when I looked at it. The people I met were nice. They do offer special diets for a fee. We were looking for respite stay, however his community did charge a fee upfront even for a short stay.

We toured Brookdale Monroe Square (Z) It is a very nice community that we might be moving our mom into if her care needs change. The staff was very friendly and helpful when providing information regarding the care they would provide for my mom. If in the future, she does move here they said the care would be more extensive and the staff members would be more attentive if she was to move from Brookdale Monroe Square (A).

Everyone at Brookdale Monroe Square has been great trying to help my mom acclimate to the move. It has been very difficult for my mom to go from being independent for all these years to adjust to following schedules and routines she is not used to. For the most part, we are very pleased the with care provided by the staff members. They have been extremely kind and soft spoken when helping us try to make mom as comfortable as possible. They offer activities that they try to encourage the residents to participate. They have been able to get my mom who plays the piano to play for some of the church services. We think we have made a good choice for my mom here and we like the fact that they will work with us and Medicaid. We keep our hopes up that mom will settle in and be comfortable in her surroundings.
