My mother was in Brookdale's memory care facility in Monroe for about 4 years. We just moved her out because of rapidly declining services. and rapidly increasing costs. She had constant Urinary Tract Infections and most recently a fractured arm from a fall. New executive director and nurse will not take blame for anything and deflects all efforts to improve facility. Staff, which are poorly paid, does not take initiative to help patients. This facility follows Brookdale's policy of a basic rate then additional charges based on the resident's personal assessment, which is reevaluated frequently. Charges are added if the resident needs more care, which the faciity says are used to increase the staff to give more care. Our costs rose from about $5,000 a month to over $11,000 A MONTH, and we are skeptical that additional staff was added. We asked for staffing information, which was never given. If you are considering this facility, please research lawsuits which have been filed in florida and California for an idea of what might be going on. We just moved our mother to another facilty because of reasons listed above.

Very professional. Sat with family to get to know family and concerns. Toured the Alzheimer's facility. It wasn't as bright and cheerful as main building. Room had own bathrooms and where quite large.

This place is a joke. Terrible food for the money you pay. They are always very understaffed. Those poor girls and very overworked and underpaid. Management sucks there. Overall nothing but a rip off!! I recommend you stay away from this place.

Not as nice as the first impression. Far too expensive for what you get.

Warm and inviting atmosphere, many activities to keep residents engaged, clean and staff seems to care very much about each resident.

This is a good community if you do not need a higher level of care. The staff do a good job of taking care of the residents. We did have a concern when the community chose to use visiting angels twenty four hours a day without our permission. We loved the place while my loved one was there and they made friends. They offered good therapy. The food was alright. I would recommend this community for residents that do not need a lot of care.

A client of mine was in this community for a short time and I honestly wished it worked out that he could have stayed there. The staff where amazing and where very attentive to all of his needs. He ended up just needing a higher level of care then they could provide. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

My mother is doing very well since her move into the Brookdale. She is enjoying all of the activities that they have to offer. I would recommend them because so far the staff has been great and the place is very clean.

They were very nice and the tour was great. They showed us around and the community was nice. We just thought that this would not be a good fit for mom. We did get to see some of the residents out and doing things.

The Brookdale Monroe is a pet friendly community. They offer resident parking if needed. The place was clean based on what i was able to see from my tour. I was not offered a complimentary meal. Meal plans are available and activities are also offered on site and offsite.

This was our second choice, but a room came up in Alice Lorraine Care Center first.

The girls that work there are terrific and they really try hard to make the residents stay as good as it can be in a lock down facility. Other than that, they are overpriced. The care they give, well let's just say that at the Assisted Living place she received better care for half the money. She was there just one year and went downhill very quickly before she passed away, When she got there she was walking on her own, when she left she was in a wheelchair and could not walk. She got a MERSA infection and management failed to notify the hospital or ambulance staff of that little detail which resulted in her being treated for a stroke for three days before the hospital put her in a private room for treatment. After that she just never recovered and lost the will to live.

What strikes me most about this place is the compassion of the staff. Both the management and the caregivers themselves are all wonderful, compassionate people. I don't know where they found these people, but I've never experienced service like this from caregivers.

A Place for Mom has scored Brookdale Monroe 9.6 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
