My experience with Brookdale is positive. It is much more important than I initially realized to carefully match the capabilities of the prospective resident to the level of care the facility offers.

The friendliness of the staff does vary greatly amongst the staff with some receiving's 1s and some others receiving 5s. What we like the most about the Brookdale Harbison community is the size of facility, the available medical support and communication protocols and availability of management team

Smaller facility that is more staff to resident ratio. The building itself is aging and could use renovation. Staff is caring and housekeeping service is good and the facility and rooms are kept very clean. Group activities are catered to the guests. I would highly recommend the facility to others as the staff genuinely cares for your loved ones.

Our family had a very nice tour experience, everything we saw and all the staff members we spoke with were very nice
My tour at Brookdale Harbison was very informative. Their staff answered any questions I had quickly and knowledgeably.
They have been very good to my dad. He slipped when getting out of bed at 5am this morning and called me. I called Brookdale and they took care of him immediately and then called me to let me know he was not hurt etc. He likes doing PT there and has made friends with many of the residents

We didn't have a good tour as the tour guide didn't have the answers to my questions, and had to hunt for material. Also, all the care levels were a la carte.
Response from Brookdale Harbison
August 9, 2022We are sorry to hear your tour of Brookdale Harbison did not meet your expectations. We want to thank you for taking the time to visit and provide feedback. Our staff is committed to providing the highest-quality service and care and we will share your feedback with our management team.
The reason we did not choose Brookdale Harbison for our loved one was because it gave us more of that typical nursing home/institutional feeling and that is not what we wanted. We also needed a place that had a ton of natural lighting.

I was a resident at Brookdale Harbison for several months after leaving the hospital. I was reluctant to go, but my family insisted. The facility was so much better than I anticipated. The staff was constantly on alert for any needs of the residents regardless of the issue. The food was excellent. There was entertainment regularly. I went shopping with other residents (a staff member took us in the facility van). I highly recommend Brookdale and, if needed, will absolutely return to this facility. The staff is super attentive, activities are varied, food is delicious-I can’t recommend Brookdale highly enough.

Response from Brookdale Harbison
April 20, 2022Thank you for choosing Brookdale and taking the time to share your feedback.
Brookdale Harbison is wonderful! It's a very warm and nurturing place with caring staff and lots of fun activities for the residents. Everybody finds their place there and seems to fit in. My dad loves it there. He now calls it home.
This was the most stressful decisions I've had to face in many years. [name removed] was the first person to contact me after my mom fell and was in skilled care. After it was determined that my mother qualified for assisted living, I chose Brookdale. I talked with many, many AL facilities but kept going back to Brookdale. It's small, quiet, and well kept. My mother has prospered there. They have activities everyday, the food is great, and my mom's room is nice. Now that the pandemic is waning, they are doing outings like lunch and shopping. I sleep well at night knowing that my mom is safe and sound. The staff really does care for these folks. Also, the price was very reasonable compared to the others I considered.

The staff at Brookdale Harbison have gone above and beyond to accommodate my mother in the move-in process. They did everything possible to make me, the daughter, feel comfortable! I feel good about my assisted living choice for mom.

My wife and I went over for Thanksgiving and the community took all the plastic plates and threw them in the trash rather than the recycling, which bothered us. We don't get notified of things unless there is a problem and because of the Covid-19 pandemic, they haven't been sending the residents to the hospital in ambulances as much.

[Name removed] and [name removed] went above and beyond to facilitate my mother's move in during the difficulties of the COVID-19 pandemic. The move went smoothly and after 14 days of required isolation, my mom is enjoying the company of the other residents. Great job!

No one around, no one monitoring residents sitting in chairs. Some were sling out of their seats. Place stunk of urine.

My father is starting to do better now since he has been settling in. The community is a little smaller than others we had looked at which I think helps my dad. He is starting to play bingo. He enjoys having meals with the other men in the community he raves about how good the food is. The staff is very friendly very nice and attentive to the residents. I would recommend this community

A Place for Mom has scored Brookdale Harbison 9 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
