Brookdale East Side

My mom is currently a resident at Brookdale East Side and the experience has been great for her so far. Everything has worked out great. Based on our experience, I would recommend Brookdale East Side to others as an option for care for their loved one.

All of these facilities are not perfect but when they tell you certain things will happen make sure you get it in writing. There are times that they forget to do things. ie.. showers, late with meds. I would recommend them but with caution to ask and re-ask. No facility is perfect. When you have a loved one that is used to being on their own and then relying on other people it can be challenging.

My loved one is a resident at Brookdale East Side. I would recommend this facility to others. The food is just okay. The housekeeping is good. I love the staff, they are very on top of things.

The staff at Brookdale East Side is really helpful. This is probably true everywhere, but we have found that you have to be really specific about your needs (ie. "My Mom will decline help so you will have to be assertive with her about assisting her with getting dressed."). With direction, they have been terrific. They have been very helpful and we're so happy to have my mom there. I rated the care services at a 4 because we are still working through mom's needs. I would recommend this facility to family and friends.

Every experience we've had with Brookdale East Side was outstanding!

We really liked and appreciated the staff members and their responsiveness, the really listened to us and they genuinely got to know our loved one along with all of her wants and needs. The meals were good we had no complaints at all and they had plenty of activities. Based on our experience with Brookdale East Side we would recommend this community to other families.

They follow through on all of their promises that they make like cleaning, showers, care, etc. The nurse has been great, her and I talk to her quite often. The every day staff are wonderful as well. I would rate the staff a 10 on a scale of 1-5. My mother loves the activities provided and my dad is coming along. They really enjoy going to the meals and they both look healthy. I do wish they had more apartments that are suitable for 2 people since they are in separate rooms, but I think my mom enjoys having her own space. It is expensive but it is worth it for the quality of care that they receive. I would recommend Brookdale East Side to others looking and already have. I looked at quite a few and am so happy I moved them here.

We chose Brookdale East Side because of the value for the money as well as the staff members, they were very friendly. The room sizes here were a little smaller than some of the other places we looked into. They took very good care of my mother here and I would recommend them and already have.

The Best! My mom has been there 5 weeks and I am so pleased. The staff is confident and caring an take time to speak with me and the questions I have as we learn our way around. Her memory is fleeting at times and the staff is so patient and kind with her and I am very thankful. There are plenty of activities to do and she is always included and involved with them. They have a hairdresser, a podiatrist comes in once a month and I just found out someone to do her fingernails for her. She seems very happy and content and that makes me feel I picked the right place for her to live. To the Brookdale East staff, thank you for your kindness, caring and nurturing of my and others precious family members as we all struggle with these life changes.

My 90 year-old mother, who vowed that we would never get her out of her home, truly loves East Side. Because of her short-term memory issues, we hear this story every day: "well, I just moved in and I LOVE my rooms. The ladies at dinner are so nice and everyone is so friendly." (She has lived there almost a year now.) They keep Mother engaged in exercises, yoga, fun brain-teaser group games, music programs, lectures, outings and the list goes on. The building layout is very inviting to residents and visitors alike. Mother can have birdfeeders in the beautiful courtyard outside her window (all rooms are on ground level). The lobby is always filled with people chatting or enjoying activities. The grounds are wooded and secluded from traffic even though East Side is right off Route 5 and very easy to get to. Staff is very attentive to Mother's care, though we have had a couple small miscommunications about managing her hearing aids (thus, I didn't give ES a full 5-star rating here.) But I was able to meet immediately with supervising staff who straightened things out right away with the involved aides. (Wanted to be totally honest.) My sisters and, most importantly, our Mother really love East Side!

Everyone is very patient with my mom and with the 100 questions that I ask them. They attend to medical needs quickly and keep me informed as things happen. They get to know the residents and treat them like family.

So far, we have been very happy with Brookdale East Side. The staff seems friendly and caring, and they have many activities to keep the residents stimulated like morning stretches, exercise, and games. The place is clean, and the food is very good. The chef there really believes in farm to table, so they use a lot of fresh, local items. I also like that the place is pretty small and easy to navigate. It feels comfortable and homey here, and we are very pleased.

[removed names], and staff are great! They knock themselves out trying to provide residents with excellent care. I know that working at an assisted living facility isn't easy. This is a very demanding population with many physical and mental issues. I am grateful for the care that my mom receives and she and I feel like these people are our friends.

I found this assisted living facility to be an excellent community of living for several reasons. Residents are very active and treated with compassion and respectful staff. The food is delicious with a variety of choices for the residents. The activities director is very involved with activities that are quite creative and which the residents look forward to. The atmosphere is friendly, the rooms are clean and overall, a very nice facility!

I call all at Eastside my angels, for the care, concerns, and kindness they show my mom, is truly heaven sent. It is beyond a community, it is a family. There are many that have worked with my mom for a number of years that know the ins and outs of dementia and treat her with dignity and grace no matter how difficult things can be. I definitely give Brookdale Eastside a five star rating!

I have no complaints about the tour I had received at this community. The facility was very well maintained and they had a lot of great amenities available to all of the residents. They had a large dinning room that would fit everyone comfortably and lots of common areas for families to enjoy.

The people here were really nice and very helpful. We just did not think that this would be a good fit for mom. She was not on the level where she needed total care. The place just felt like a nursing home and institutionalized.

My aunt is doing very well here at this community. It is really a good fit for her and her needs. They have a good staff here, they have been very responsive and helpful. The community looks nice, everything is very nice and clean. I know she is being cared for well here. This is a community I would recommend, it has worked out well for us.
