Brookdale Chambrel Pinecastle

My mother has been very pleased with the facility, staff, meals, activities and services offered. She is enjoying the socialization she was missing by living alone in her house. They also welcomed and accomodated her pet cat which was a big plus. Can't ask for more.

Cost was the driver in my leaving there. They raised my rent too much. I saved [removed] a month in moving. The staff...to a person...was super. Food was excellent especially on holidays. Unfortunately, the director was murdered, the 2nd in command moved to another facility, and #3 left the industry.

The food is the number one complaint by my loved ones. The place looks dingy. The carpets in the lobby and halls need to be replaced

The front desk staff were great. The dining room staff are not trained, some of them don't know how to serve. They have items on the menu for the particular day and then, when we ordered one of them (like tapioca for dessert) we were told they were out of the item and they just started serving the lunch. The dining room staff want the residents out of the dining room by 6:30 pm. If my loved one arrived there at 5, waited for a server, waited for the food, and took 45 minutes to eat, they were reminding her to leave by 6:30. At 98 years old, my loved one was a very slow eater. She found it rather rude that they kept bugging her to get out of the dining room by 6:30. Also, they showed us a "model" apartment with a cabinet in the bathroom, then the apartment that she got did not have that cabinet. We requested one. They said they ordered it. I don't know. They said her trash would be taken out of her apartment every day. It wasn't taken out for 5 days. Additionally, my loved one was very short so we asked for the closet racks & shelves be lowered. Never done. Everyone bent over backwards to get us to sign her up to live there. After she moved in, they treated us like we were imposing.

I picked this community because, It met my needs with neurological problems, I had many friends in town, and the price was right. The residents are friendly, staff are supberb, and the facility is excellent.

I feel the staff could have check on my loved one more than they did. I was expecting them to check on my loved one more. The call button would be pushed by my loved one and sometimes it would take the staff hours to respond to my loved one. Overall, it seems like they are short staffed. The meals were okay for my loved one during their stay.

Very clean beautiful facility, great staff and good vibes from residents. I can see my mother here in the future as she progresses to memory care.

My mom and I visited the facility. It was beautiful! Mom loved the pond and walking trail. She loved the spacious apartments and everything they have to offer. She will be so happy there!

I actually knew the marketing director from 30 years ago. She was understanding of me, and went out of her way to answer my questionsas honestly as she could. Based on the fact that we knew one another, she might have answered with more honesty than others would get on their tours. As soon as we came to move in, she grabbed the check out of my hand and said, "This is my business." Meaning, this is what I do. But Brookdale was not run as a business. It was haphazard and chaotic. On the outside from what the public would see, it was okay but not top notch. My loved one's room was not ready when we came to move in. There were no towels the first night she was there. She found rags that were used to clean dust/dirt off the floor/walls in the drawers. It was not good for respite care. In fact, the bed they gave her was roughly at my waist/hip high, so as 5'3" woman she could not get on the bed. So I had to pull the foundation out so she could get up on the bed, and also so she would not fall off and die in the night. They were supposed to take her medicine from her when she arrived so they could administer it for her. They did not take it from her, so they therefore were not able to administer it to her. The first day they were to provide food, they did not provide what she asked for. She was supposed to be on 3-day quarantine, which ended up being 5 days. They let her out on the 4th day, and had to add an extra day because they let her out early. She has a senior medical pet - an electronic dog basically, which has a heartbeat, makes noises, and is there for her comfort. She wanted to take it for a walk, and the staff member said it doesn't need to go for walks - it's not real. On her last day - we took her out early - they did not give her her medicine that morning. At that point I said "Give me my loved one - I'm moving her out of here." In the middle of her stay, she told me she was out of toilet paper. I told her to ask them for some, but she said she knew they wouldn't give it to her. So I called, and they told me they didn't supply toilet paper. So I had to come back 15 minutes after just bringing her groceries. Later on the administration said toilet paper was provided, yet I had been providing it the whole time. Anybody who considers Brookdale shouldn't until they're under new management again, because every facet of their business is trash. At no point did I get an apology. The marketing director said she was frustrated but did not give an apology. The executive director said "That's not what we are." But that's exactly what they are. And he did not apologize either. He offered nothing, and I had to ask for a refund. He did not respond to that phone call asking for a refund, but later on I received a refund for the rest of the 12 days we did not stay there.

The General Manager is not very friendly and rude. Once when I went in to speak to him, he ended up being very rude. He didn't stand up to greet me, or shake my hand. He pretty much told me, go away. The other staff are very friendly in the community. I would recommend others look somewhere else. There was an issue with bugs, and as far as I know it's still a problem. There is a nurse who is just the nicest guy. My loved one, raves over this nurse.

Perfect for dad, active happy AL. Entertainment, pool, poker room, pool table, restaurant style dining room

[Name removed]is extremely professional and could not have been more personable and helpful. Costs were a bit higher than advertised, since they were recently revised and do not include the a la carte services. I am highly considering this facility and the entire family of Brookdale properties for my father.

My father lives here. He moved in using a wheelchair 3 years ago. He now dances with me when I attend happy hour with him. They offer an excellent variety of activities. The staff is loving and caring. We are very pleased we chose Brookdale Chambrel.
