Located in a quiet residential neighborhood, residents of Brookdale Cary can look forward to memory care services in a safe, unique, and home-inspired atmosphere.
At Brookdale Cary, there are two memory programs available: the Clare Bridge and Solace programs. The Clare Bridge program was created more than 30 years ago. Although it continually evolves with new research, the goal is to provide residents with six planned activities per day. These activities help residents use their current skills, while preserving their abilities and true selves. The Solace program does not replace any key elements of the Clare Bridge — it simply adds to it. A few important highlights include incorporating music and aromatherapy into residents' routines, as well as assisting with bathing, dressing, grooming, and other activities of daily living.
The single-story community is built to protect and provide feelings of familiarity. It incorporates a variety of helpful features like circular pathways and wayfinding cues. Rest assured, dementia-trained staff members are available to meet your one-of-a-kind needs. Many residents find comfort knowing staff is available 24-hours a day, seven days a week to be alerted to an emergency. Additionally, the community incorporates extra safety features like a 24-hour security system and keypad entries.

My loved one was previously a resident at Brookdale Cary and we didn't have a good experience overall. I moved my loved one out after about a month. There was not enough supervision and help for my loved one. I regret putting my loved one there.

Response from Brookdale Cary
June 20, 2024We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback and are sorry to hear you feel this way. Our staff is committed to providing the highest-quality service and care for each resident and we will share your concerns with our management team for review.
The staff is very well trained and genuinely caring of all the residents. They provide a number of interactive activities and entertainment. Above all, the atmosphere is much more family-like than any other place I've seen. I would highly recommend this facility to others with family members suffering from dementia. They only have dementia residents, so the entire staff is trained in and is very experienced with getting dementia residents comfortable with receiving care, and they treat them with dignity.

Carpeted floors in room make them difficult to clean. Rooms probably need a bit of updating. Staff is very friendly. Overall I would recommend Brookdale Cary to others looking for memory care.

Initially I was thrilled with my experience. They had wonderful, kind staff and good ratio of staff to patients. Within the last year however things have changed drastically: prices went up but staff numbers went down, and constant turnover...I don't even learn their names anymore. Also, as soon as anything beyond very basic care is needed I am required to pay extra for one-on-one care because they don't have the staff to actually be with the patients. The price is already exorbitant but one-on-one care really adds up each month too. I never see staff in the common areas overseeing patients unless they are distributing snacks or moving them to the dining hall. I get that staff needs to shower patients, do laundry and help prepare for meals BUT their primary job is to care for the patients and the do not have the numbers to be able to make this happen. It's a real shame because it used to be such a positive experience, but now it breaks my heart for ALL the patients whenever I visit.

October 9, 2023We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback and are sorry to hear we are not meeting all of your expectations. We would welcome an opportunity to discuss with you further and encourage you to reach out to our management team.
Things we like about the community: The care staff is kind and attentive. Things we dislike about the community: Brookdale Cary is often short-staffed. The RN was horrible. She has departed and management is in process of a new hire.

My sister is living at Brookdale. I visit often and I am happy with her care. Residents are encouraged to participate in activities and to spend time out of their rooms. They are supervised and treated with respect. The staff is very friendly and knows each resident by name. It is clearly a challenging job and since the facility is memory care only, all staff members are trained. I would recommend this facility. It is truly a community.

Brookdale Cary is the worst place for your love one, my mom has been at Brookdale Cary for one year and everything that they told us that will take place In my mom‘s care has not been done there’s not enough managers or CNA‘s to help with the patients, different agency workers are there every day. Also patients are not getting showers as they supposed to. The night shifts are always short. there’s not enough workers, the management team at the front office tells a lot of lies residence fall and get hurt and the things that the CNA says is that they don’t know how they fell that is totally unacceptable I would not recommend Brookdale Cary to anyone it is a shame they sell you a lie and a dream. some of the aids are good and some are not. they are very rude and don’t know how to talk to family members. The sales manager he’s another liar, he needs to be fired but I guess it’s all about brining in the money. Before agreeing on Brookdale please research other facilities.

This facility is very warm and welcoming on the front end. Housekeeping is often and not perfect, but they do a good job for the most part. Ongoing communication with the family needs improvement. If we reach out we can usually get answers, but it would be nice to receive updates on dad. Especially with him being in memory care and not being able to tell us things on his own. Like activities, for example. I know they have them, but I don't know if he participates or not. One thing I would suggest is offsite activities. I don't think they have them but I think they should. Overall, dad's needs are being met and he is taken care of here. We didn't have a lot of time to look around, our need was pretty immediate. If we would have had time to look around, I'm not sure this would have been our top choice. However, it's working out ok. I would recommend them to family and friends.

It has changed since the beginning. The staffing has been better since COVID. The staff is really good. My mother does not complain about the food, she seems to eat to everything. They did not have anyone over activities for a while but they just hired a new director, so now they have a full time person, and plan to get a part time person. Prior to getting a new director, mom enjoyed Bingo, and they offered exercise every morning, and they have a bowling game. I like the facility because it is only dementia patients. Mom gets great care. If a loved one has dementia, go to a facilty that only deals with that. A lot do not have the training. Someone who knows what a dementia patient is very important, and where staff is focused only on dementia. Once per month, they have family educational night, in which the former caregivers can come in and you can talk about what loved ones are going through.

This community looked very good just at the end it came down to the one that we felt was located in the best place and that the care and providers that were offered fit our loved ones needs. The tour was good.
The care is very personable and caring and the caregivers are loving and they are 100% vaccinated. communication between the staff and our family was good and they kept us well informed. I would recommend this community to others.

Facility has rooms for 50 residents and is set up like a small village with major activities held in area referred to as "the village square." This is set up to care for people who need an assisted living or memory care situation. They are not prepared to offer nursing home care for someone bed bound at this facility. While I was there a resident was walking the halls and my guide was concerned because they were not using their walker, but we did not stop to assist him. Also, there was a distinct odor when I entered the building.

I had a good tour of this community. The staff was kind, and friendly to my family, and my self. The community appeared to be well-kept, and clean. It was a nice experience, but we found a community that suited my mother needs better.

Even though we put our family member in for short term respite care, he continues to stay. We are very happy with the care and programs provided to stimulate his mind and body. The staff is pleasant, helpful and attentive to the resident's needs. I would highly recommend Brookdale for your loved one.

A Place for Mom has scored Brookdale Cary 7.6 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
