It is a nice, attractive facility in a nice and safe location. They are great with making sure that people check in and have their mask on and they have hand sanitizer everywhere. They are great with covid protocols. [name removed] was the person who helped us through the whole tour and move in process and she was great, super helpful. It has been a little hard to contact people but I know they are very busy. A lot of times I have to wait to get calls back. My dad said the food is great, he said it is like being on a cruise ship without the sea sickness. Something I really like it the shared rooms are actually 2 individual suites with a shared common area that has a kitchenette and bathroom. I did not see that at the other places I looked, I like that he can have his own space. We have overall been pleased with the experience.

The Braemar community is beautiful and looks like a 5 star hotel, however while our loved one was a resident there the medical care was awful. Anytime we would have questions or concerns regarding our loved one we could never seem to get a straight answer and we would not recommend this community to other families.
we toured Braemer Living at Wallkill and upon first impression, it was a beautiful facility. we chose another community because Braemer did not accept my loved one.
Even when my mother was going through the most difficult time of adjustment and her medications were off, the one thing she consistently said was that everybody was so friendly here. Mom is absolutely thrilled with the food, the quality and variety is amazing. Their wellness department is outstanding, but one of the things they promise is that if there is any change in health, families would get a call. Sometimes they are too busy taking care of the residents to call or take calls. We feel very fortunate and blessed, I would absolutely recommend them to others looking.

My Mom(98) and my sister(69) tested positive for COVID. They told us that they are checking on them hourly to monitor there condition. When they do answer the phone they have no answers. No one has returned a call as of yet. On outdoor visits neither neither of them had there emergency medallions around there neck. Since they get help with showers and getting dressed we don't understand how these items are lost. The explanation we get is that they lost them. Mom had been falling out of her wheelchair at least once every 10 days and without the medallion to notify wellness she has to wait for an aid visit for help. Mom has also been over medicated for our afternoon visits. We called wanting to speak to a professional about her meds but have yet to hear back. 1 doctor attends to 150 residents and he stops in once a week. I have spoken to the Filben rep about the staffing and she feels they have more than enough coverage. They have between 4 aids to handle 150 residents. Do the math.
The Braemar Facility is beautiful and well-kept. Unfortunately the care is beyond horrific! They are very short-staffed and extremely poorly run. We have countless issues with his care, or lack there of. The Wellness staff is rude (to patients and family members) and there is a huge lack of follow through. My father died choking to death on his lunch in the dining hall. He was supposed to be assisted with eating and obviously was not. I would not recommend this facility at all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We went to all of the facilities and this was the best. We chose Braemar Living at Wallkill because of the cleanliness and the activities that they provided. They have endless activities such as dancing, game nights, trips to ball games, etc. The room sizes are pretty good, my dad is in a friendship suite so shares a kitchenette and bathroom. He says the food is pretty good, they have a menu but you can get things that are off the menu. They also have a cafe you get snacks from. My favorite part about this community is the care that they give my dad. The aids checking on my dad have actually saved his life twice. They all know him by name and everyone is friendly to him. He also knows a couple people here from church so he has friends to interact with. I would recommend and already have.

As health care proxy for my friend, I am responding to your request. The person is very unhappy. He is not satisfied with the food. He says it is of poor quality and insufficient. He was approved for a microwave oven but never received it. I brought him a new jacket and jeans for labeling, and they were lost. I submitted a request for reimbursement, but his case worker was not familiar with protocol.

Overall, Braemar Living is a great place for our Mom. They do currently have some staffing and communication issues but we are hoping these get resolved soon. Many of staff are extremely pleasant and go out of their way to make sure our Mom has all that she needs and sometimes what she wants. There are a couple of not-so-nice staff members that we have had to complain about. They are also short staffed and have been for the last month that our Mom has been there. There are many social activities going on daily and some special activities at least once weekly. The location is fantastic being very close to medical, recreational, and shopping facilities. It is easy on and off from two major highways.

Very new facility. Run by a corporation. It had all the bells and whistles but seemed very sterile. Also the "2 bedroom suite was poorly laid out. The price was over $8,000 per month which appeared high since they double the rate for the second person... for what?... food and some additional laundry. They had availability.

Braemar is a very nice looking facility. They have so many activities that we even felt that my mother could be a bit overwhelmed. There were a couple of issues we had with this place and decided that it would be our backup to Promenade since they seemed a little homier. After Promenade would not accept her, we were sure that Braemar would considering their many levels of care. Then, surprisingly, we were disappointed to find out they wouldn't accept her based on the recommendation of staff at Park Manor. This was one of our top choices and we were very interested in everything they had to offer. They had extra services for the residents which we had liked as well as other great amenities. I just think the staff could have done a better job explaining why they would not take my mother.

My parents liked it while they were living here and there was nothing wrong with the community. It's much newer, clean and well-maintained. It feels more like a hotel than a nursing home.

My mom is slowly getting adjusted to the community but the staff and everybody is wonderful there. It is a great place and a great place for her. They help her out since she cant be on her own. They have a lot of activities and do a lot of nice things during the day. They are caring and compassionate staff to all the residents who live there.
