Bennett Place

I'm not sure the supervision was the best for someone with memory care issues. I think it's a wonderful facility for someone who is semi independent. I think someone that needs a lot of supervision probably needs a different facility.

A homey atmosphere, lovely interior and outside space to relax and have visitors, didn't like that doors were locked and they wouldn't share the code so ended up waiting sometimes 15 minutes to get in. Hallway is perfect for waking for exercise, rules about pets on leash were not enforced, plenty of light in the rooms.

Here’s the good and the bad. Good: Beautiful garden and courtyard, nice dining room and nice apartments with nice bathrooms. The people are nice overall. The bad: The lack of attentiveness. They aren’t paying attention when executing basic tasks; examples I’ve seen with my own eyes: spilling urine when emptying catheter bag, hanging catheter bag on wheelchair handle (it needs to be below bladder) not wiping the urethra when changing briefs, not washing face, not changing socks, no trash bags in trash cans, dirty clothes mixed with clean clothes, giving miralax daily when told to stop, 1+ hour call light wait times, or they don’t answer it at all. Not all aids have pagers or are lost. Some aids out if the building. You have to go daily and watch and monitor the care of your loved one constantly. It’s a struggle at $[removed] per month.

I sensed a real concern by the staff for the people under their care. While there may have been internal (employee/employer) issues, as there may be in any work environment, it never manifested itself in my presence. In my opinion, employees are acting professionally in that regard. As for the facility, it was wonderful, above what I expected to find.

The Bennett Place community was a wonderful place. I was impressed with the staff. They were friendly and knowledgeable from custodial to management. The facility was GREAT!

The staff at Bennett Place are extremely friendly. It is a very nice place.

Everyone there was very caring. They knew everyone by name and gave lots of hugs and attention. They were a bit constrained by COVID but provided a variety of activities. Bennett Place was very clean and secure. The nursing staff frequently called me with updates and changes to Mom's care. We were extremely happy with the facility and would highly recommend it.

If your loved one needs a higher level of care—or if you’re looking for a place capable of end-of-life care—Bennett could be the place for you. My Mom has lived here for nearly a year. We had her at another facility before moving her to Bennett. Staffing is based on acuity, and all resident aides are CNAs who are required to be Covid vaccinated. The director of nursing is an RN who ran the cardiology and neurology ICU floors at a major area hospital for years. She’s top notch. Staff are also trained how to do two-person transfers, and there’s a hoist. The facility itself is nice. Activities are okay but residents to my mind aren’t as engaged as they could be. Food is okay. There have been ongoing issues with food and housekeeping but they’re trying to resolve them. Bennett does have staffing issues but that’s become typical at most facilities. My mom needs higher levels of care because of her debilitating physical condition. I recommend Bennett.

We really like that the residents receive a lot of love and attention there. The staff and residents are always happy, in a good mood with smiles on their faces. The staff seem to always be eager to help with anything. Our loved one was not crazy about the meals but the dining service and dining hall was super nice. With the covid restrictions the activities were about as good as can be, but based on the experience we have had we would recommend them to other families.

I fell in love with Bennett Place right when we walked in. The people were so friendly, [name removed] is wonderful and the place was spotless. Them seemed to have plenty of staff as well. I loved everything about it. I would recommend to others.

We chose Bennett Place because we had someone we knew who was here and she had a good experience. He really enjoys the meals here, they do prepare the food there on site. The staff members are good with him. It is hard to judge the facility just because we have not been able to go inside due to covid.

Overall the facility is very clean but housekeeping needs to do better cleaning my mom's appt. The staff is very friendly to the resident and the family. Overall I love Bennett Place, it a small community with activities if you choose to participate. I would definitely recommend it.

I am very pleased with the care my mom receives. Place is very clean and staff very friendly. My mother is 97 years old and she stated that everyone is very nice to her and treats her with respect. She has never been better and so cared for.

Our father went to live at Bennett Place a little over a year ago after this house was sold. He had dementia and was dealing with some additional health issues. The staff at Bennett Place did a wonderful job of helping him feel like it was home. They were always sweet to him and joked around with him. He was happy there.

The staff and everyone was great especially certain members of direct care however dad was not always taken care of properly on some days.I started hearing about other residents money and personal items missing ,the police being called but nothing done to protect my father or others also rumors concerning employees misuse of drugs. This was great at first but now I would think twice before recommending anyone to Bennett Place

They are taking good care of my mom. They engage her to come out of her room so she can enjoy the daily activities they have. They have bus rides to view lights or shopping and they have ice cream socials also movie and popcorn nights. The food is good sometimes she will eat and sometimes she won't . They have a nice outdoor area. I would recommend this community.
