They have lots of activities and outings organized by a fantastic activity director. Right now there is a weekly van ride to a grocery stores for residents to shop. The store varies week by week. She also takes a group on the van weekly to one of the area restaurants for social time. It’s well worth the money I spend on it. You can easily keep busy here on sight. I’ve only been here 6 weeks and it feels like home to me and I’ve made many new friends. I’d highly recommend it for seniors over 55 who are still fairly independent.... Read more

We signed my mom up for the Baldwin House and all its amenities. But then new ownership came in within a week or her move in date and sadly took them all away. They did not prep her apartment in any way after the last tenant left. Not sure Grand Rapids needs more independent senior apartment complexes that offer no medical care and no meals, but best of luck to the new owners.

Lots of room in the apartments. Full kitchen with dishwasher. Great activity director. Lots to do if you want to socialize, transportation to doctors unless you connect with Go bus. I’ve been here only a month but loving it. I feel at home here.

Don't do it! It was so bad, I reported them to the state. Unresponsive, wrong meds, and food inedible. Laundery people were allowed to come into her apartment in the middle of the night. Food was not delivered to my mother, which lead to missed meals. Requests for assist ignored for up to three hours. Shame on you of you recommend them.

I am happy with everything so far at Baldwin House Senior Living Grand Rapids. We do mom's food, so she isn't part of the food program. Everyone is super nice and cheerful. I am happy that she is there. I think my only negative is how secluded you feel if you can't afford to do the group meals.

I'm happy here. The people are nice. I wish we had more outings. I also wish they would give rides to doctors.

Mom was happy at Baldwin house for about 6 months. the place has gone downhill in the last few months. 1) Transportation was promised. Now, you have to take the Go bus. 2) The bus has been broken down for several weeks. 3) No driver is available for medical runs or Grocery runs as promised. 4)High turnover of the staff. 5)Broken elevators, Washing machines and interior wear and tear damages not being repaired. 6)Food staff has high turnover and the food is adequate but not good. 7)Reduced services with increased rent prices. 8)Frustrated employees 9)Not clean. Minimum and reduced housekeepers staff.

We have lived here almost 2 months and I lead music for the chapel on Sunday, lead a choral group and have an arts and crafts class. We picked this community because of the cost and space. Come and join us!

We had a great tour experience at Baldwin House Grand Rapids. The girl in charge here was AWESOME. The pricing was reasonable and actually a little cheaper than a few others we visited. For us it just came down to the location, this facility is more out by the woods. We pick mom up often to go to church and take her out and this was a bit further of a drive for us. Other than that it was a great place.
My mom doesn’t like change and was apprehensive about moving to a senior living place. Five months later - she is out and about socializing, going to events on the shuttle bus and having a wonderful time at Baldwin house. Her apartment is cute and clean and the staff are very wonderful to mom - I feel so relieved and thankful we found Baldwin house for mom

Don't go here. The staff are unprofessional. They use Advisacare, who gave out the wrong medication to my loved one and sometimes didn't give out medication at all. The Baldwin House staff are unresponsive and irresponsible. And they don't do what they say they're going to do, even after multiple meetings with them.

The staff at Baldwin House are very friendly. The facility itself is very aesthetic. The grounds are very nice. The apartments are spacious and functional. They could provide more lighting in the bathrooms though. And I think maybe their sales pitch about the food should be reviewed. They're having some issues with staffing that are concerning. Often they aren't able to provide the dinner meal because they don't have enough staff. Breakfast is great, and lunch has been just fine. But we're paying for all three meals, and often she gets just a cold sandwich for dinner, or nothing at all. If your loved one can cook for themselves, the apartments have full operational kitchens, which is nice. But if they need meals provided to them, it's not an ideal situation. Overall my mom is very happy and content there.

This is a great community. The staff is incredible. The move in process was so smooth. Mom is happy and comfortable here and it's a great fit for her. She's even reconnected with a few old acquaintances that are residents here, too. They have a good variety of activities and special events. My wife and I have been pretty impressed with it. I would recommend them to family and friends.

The Baldwin House community is very clean and the staff members have been super friendly so far. It has only been [dates removed] since our loved one has moved in but so far he seems to be really happy with the meals and dining service. A few reasons we chose this community is because we really like the third party care service that can assist with our loved ones needs and the fact that our loved ones apartment has a full sized kitchen

I think the food is pretty good. The activities director is very friendly and thinks up creative activities for the residents. She's very welcoming, and not just during the tour. She has remained that way after move-in. That has not been the case for the office staff, however. I feel like they were friendly initially just to get us in. But overall the community and the people who live there are friendly. I think they could improve on cleaning of hallways and elevators.

Our family had an in person tour and the staff were friendly but our loved one thought the community was a little dark and not very inviting.
Our virtual tour was fine. I consider the virtual tour as introductory, to determine if you want to go see the facility in person. And they did a good enough job that we would want to go check them out.

A Place for Mom has scored Baldwin House Senior Living Grand Rapids 8.8 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score.
