Being able to see my mother so happy and content made me realize I made the right decision! It was a pleasure working with [name removed] throughout the admissions process. Despite the fact that he is my saint from above, he has been extremely helpful when it comes to applying for Medicaid benefits and is well-versed in explaining all things for admissions application, services, and amenities. When mom moved in, [name removed] in Guest Service greeted us, and walked us through everything we needed to get settled. [name removed] from housekeeping and Erick maintenance guy ensured the room was in well working order. The staff has earned my full trust and I know mom is in good hands. One of the best aspects, I think, this nursing home is that they have tenured staff and the same nurses and same CNAs taking care of mom daily. I would recommend Avantara whenever someone asks for a quality nursing home recommendation. Very glad we found this amazing place to call her home. To all the dedicated staff: Thank you!... Read more

I’d like to offer genuine appreciation for all the great care given during my mother’s stay. Very grateful for all all that you have done to help the healing and shrink process. Especially for all that went there “extra mile” and you know who you are—thank you, thank you!! Thanks for your dedication, compassion and professionalism. The food was also excellent. Lastly, the friendliness and engagement of the community has been incredible and instrumental to my mother’s recovery. The staff are happy and active and I truly feel their quality of life has gone up. I highly recommend Avantara Lake Zurich for your love one!

My mother is in longterm care at Avantara and hates it. The rooms are small and the food is terrible. They can barely squeeze in a wheelchair around the bed. I understand as a Medicaid resident to not expect luxury but I really think they could do better. They don't offer many activities and the facility is not very good at communicating with family. I am trying to find her a better place but everywhere better has a long waitlist. The staff seem under-resourced and not very compassionate. They are doing their best but when the owner has a $5million house in Beverly Hills and a $4 million condo in downtown Chicago I can only imagine they are exploited and the patients neglected in favor of profits. It's very distressing and saddening as I live overseas and am unable to find better care for her. I don't think this is the worst place out there - I know it could be worse, but overall it is disappointing.

My loved one received her therapy and her antibiotics. She enjoyed her CNA and the friends that she met. She wanted to go home but at the same time she had a great experiences and care. I recommend Lexington.

I was there for rehab. At first I was nervous but the staff for the most part were friendly. Therapy girls were very nice! Spoke with me as if I was a personal family member which made me comfortable. I would recommend.

Food was not bad. Very clean. Bright inside and did not feel like a nursing home. Parking was a bit hard to find but that is the least of my worries. Nursing was great. [Name removed] is a CNA who deserves so much credit. Such a hard working, caring lady who you can tell loves helping others.

I am a daughter of a patient that was recently at Lexington. My mother was in the hospital and as her Power of Attorney, I had to tour a bunch of facilities to determine which one would best fit her needs. I ended up touring 4 different facilities. The Liaison that I spoke with, [Name removed], came to visit my mother and I in the hospital and recommended touring. She was very thorough in explaining from start to finish how my mothers care was going to be. I had a good feeling after speaking with her as I could tell she wasn't trying to "sell" me something and really believed in Lexington. Upon touring, I met with a gentleman named [Name removed]. He was very knowledgeable and friendly. He took his time with me and understood the needs I was concerned about. The facility was very clean and bright. Had no smells. The patients and staff all had smiles. It had a different "feel" then the other places I toured and I ended up bringing my mother there. She was accommodated with a private room which also made her stay so much easier on her. She received her IV antibiotics and also therapy. She ended up staying 4 weeks. I was able to see her slowly getting better with each passing day. The receptionist, [Name removed], came to be like family to me as she saw me everyday. She always asked me how my mother was and had a smile on her face. My mother is now at an Assisted Facility which Lexington Social Services also kindly helped me get her into. She is doing great and I am extremely grateful for everything they did. I would recommend this facility to others. I know Healthcare is a tough job but when you love what you do, it truly shows!

My dad is in this place and so far we have mixed feelings. The place seems under staffed and communications are lacking so we are figuring it out as we go. We are hoping that weekdays are better.

We had trouble figuring out the residency requirements and I had gotten a call from their administrations director; at first she gave me a rosy picture and said everything would be fine and they would be able to get her in. They looked at the doctors notes and then said that she wouldn't be a good fit. They pretty much said over the phoen that they could take her and then two days later set us up to be disappointed. The real positive aspect is that they are a larger facility and organization so they can offer more in the way of additional services. With their memory care wing I was impressed that they had a neurologist who visited regularly in addition to the general practiitoner and I thought that was impressive; their facilities for therapy were all really great also. The negative to the size is that it would be pretty easy to get lost there and they would wake you up in the middle of the night for showers because they have suchy a backlog.

A Place for Mom has scored Avantara Lake Zurich 7.2 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
