We were very worried when we had to put my mom in a care facility, but Ashley Court eased our worries. My mom was given a new home when she arrived on day one. Not only did my mom get a new home, we as her children were given peace of mind because of the wonderful care. We are always updated on her progress and activities. They always go out of their way to ensure we are included to join in any activities. We are forever thankful to Ashley Court for taking such wonderful care of our mom!!... Read more

This is an ideal place for your loved ones. They are very helpful, caring, friendly, and the community is very clean. The staff communication with the family is good, and they are responsive to our questions. Anytime there is a change with my loved one, they make sure to call us. Some of the activities available include bowling, bingo, exercises, and more for the resident to participate in.

March 1, 2023Thank you for taking the time to write a review. It is very much appreciated! Shelly
Their Staff had no professional medication Training. I ask the one girl passing medication. She confirmed it. So many licensing violations. All staff on evenings and midnights stayed in Living room on cell phones or watching TV. They never did an regular bed checks, my client laid half off the bed in Urine, was not bathe until the Hospice nurse and myself did it the day before she passed. The Director had her untrained sin passing medication etc. None of the staff went through trainings.

Response from Ashley Court of Brighton
January 23, 2023I'm sorry you feel this way and that your 1 week experience here felt so traumatic to you (I remember you). I would like to address a few of the complaints I believe may be misunderstood or incorrect. We do NOT have "so many violations" and are fully licensed and in good standing by the state of Michigan. The medication passers have ALL been trained. 1st by the lead med tech/supervisor, then by the nurse, who signs off on the training once completed and is in full compliance of state licensing regulations. So, I am not sure what you are referring to when you say, "professional medication training". The girl you say confirmed that, perhaps, did not understand what you meant either. The midnight staff does do frequent checks, however, when family is in the room with their loved one they may not go in as often, because the resident is not alone. You will be happy to know that since your complaint last year, we felt we could improve on that and now the frequent checks stay in place unless a family specifically ask us not to intrude. I am proud that our community always strives to take criticism and use it as motivation to implement improvements for the good of our residents and their families. Shelly
On boarding process is non-existent. No documented process &/or procedures. Jewelry was stolen. Medications not regulated. Doctors review was not scheduled frequently & had to follow up for evaluations. Getting return calls was difficult. And so on & so on.....

Response from Ashley Court of Brighton
November 16, 2022As always, we appreciate feedback from all of our families so that we can continue to strive for the best experience possible for our residents and family members. I will try to address these concerns as best as possible. A good On-boarding system is sometimes harder in dementia depending on the condition or disposition of the resident and their level of dementia. This is not an excuse, but more an explanation of the struggles of a procedure in a community that is not a "one size fits all". Perhaps I will need to adjust how I explain it to prospective families so that expectations can be better met. Missing personal items in dementia is not usually "stolen". Many residents lose, throw away, misplace or "hide in a safe place", jewelry, hearing aids, dentures and glasses to name a few. We do have a separate form in the sign-up paperwork that specifically addresses jewelry and personal valuables that every new resident family is asked to sign as a reminder. However, if you are sure jewelry was stolen, did you make a police report that I am unaware of so that this may be addressed? Medication regulations are set by the physician and cannot be altered in any way by the community. As for issues with Dr. evaluations and reviews, this would be an issue you resolve with Visiting Physicians and the contract signed with them. If you would like to contact me personally, I would be happy to get involved to advocate for you and your loved one. Regarding return calls, I am sorry this was your experience and there is no excuse for that. I personally do not address most issues once a family moves in as we have a manager for every department however, I will extend my apologies for all of us. Please feel free to contact me if I can help resolve any further issues for you. Sincerely, Shelly Muir
They have wonderful staff that my mother in law adores, she looks at them as her friends! They treat her like family, they have so many activities that we see daily on their FB page, they keep her engaged, she seems so happy and for the money the value has surpassed the cost! They communicate to us via phone when needed, are great we we visit. Best place we could have picked for her.

My loved one was a resident here. It's a very nice place. It's clean, the staff is very friendly, and they provided good care. Her care level needs changed and we had to move her to another facility. But this one was great while she was here.
I would give Ashley Court of Brighton a 10 out of 5 if I could, they have been nothing short of amazing. We felt safe placing her here, they made us feel very comfortable and we knew she would be well taken care of. The staff go above and beyond for anything that the residents may need. I love the fact that all of the buildings are the same - she is moving to another building soon and she will already know the layout. They have a Facebook page where they take pictures and I can see what my sister is up to all the time. I would absolutely recommend this facility to other families.

The facility is clean, room is clean. Communication with the family could improve. I initiate most of the contact with them and would appreciate a phone call from them from time to time. I haven't eaten the food, but no complaints from dad. Overall, we are satisfied with them. They're doing a good job over there.

I liked Ashley Court of Brighton. It was very pleasant. The administrator we met with was really perky and positive. She was very helpful and had a lot of good information on senior care that was transferrable wherever we chose to go. I appreciated how upfront she was. The facility was a little older, and the carpet in the common areas had some staining. But we're realistic about those things - we understand people live there, and spills happen. The one room they had available was not the best fit for my loved one. It had a tree in front of the window, and he prefers light. The wall also had a crack and some water damage. Aside from that room, we liked Ashley Court. So we put him on a waiting list for a different room. The people who lived there seemed to really like it.
Our loved one was not to very happy with the meals and dining - we are not sure if it was the quality of the meals or if it had to do with our loved ones dementia. We really do think the staff did a great job with our loved one considering she was a high fall risk. Based on our experience we would recommend Ashley Court to other families if it fit their loved ones specific needs.

My mom was at Ashley Court temporarily for about a week, but had an emergency situation where she had to be placed elsewhere. I would not ever recommend Ashley Court to anyone. My mom was in highest level of memory care and it was awful. The community was not clean, the patients roamed in and out of their rooms and there was hardly any supervision of the residents. Hospice care came in to do an interview with my mom and they sent her back to the wrong room; they couldn't keep track of the residents either. I couldn't get my mom out of there fast enough.

Response from Ashley Court of Brighton
July 29, 2022Dear Donna, I am so sorry you feel you had a bad experience here. I do know your mom was here back in March for the very short period of 5 days. I wish I would have known back then how you felt, so that I could have tried to address your concerns. Mom was in our highest dementia/care building. We are aware that of the couple of people that still walk in that building, can at times wander into a wrong room and no longer have the skills to realize their mistake. I am sorry that was upsetting to you. As for cleanliness, I personally have never had that complaint and I have been here for 4 1/2 years. However, we are an older community so maybe that is part of it. Hospice I can not address as that is an independent company of an individual family's choosing. But again, I see that was just one more thing, that was added to a situation, that was already overwhelming for you and your family. I hope this reply at least helps to ease your mind that we do care about any concerns our families have and will always strive to do better for our residents. Shelly
This is a positive community for your loved one and I would recommend this community. They have activities at this community like bowling, games, bouncing balloons, manicures and a lot of things to keep the residents busy and involved in the community. The staff are good and take good care of my loved one. The tour was good and I was able to see everything that I needed to see at this community.

We chose Ashley Court because it was a smaller, homey facility which works out great for my mom, she can get to the dining room and activities room much easier. The other big reason was because every time I went here, residents were out of their rooms and in the common areas. The apartment sizes are on the smaller side. They have a ton of activities provided. My mother is not one to participate, but now I see pictures of her all the time on their website doing all of the activities. I would recommend to others who are looking, very friendly staff members.

Our family visits often, and we're very, very pleased with them. They've ben very accommodating. Our loved one has lived in other places where he was dirty and not well cared for. But at Ashley Court, every time we go to seem him, he's clean and shaven, although sometimes agitated, but they take really good care of him. And I would recommend them (and already have). I like that they have different levels of care, so the residents can interact with all sorts of people. All the people there are wonderful. The staff take good care of him, and tell him they love him. It's a bit pricey, but it's worth it.

So far we have not seen any red flags and what we have seen of the community so far everything is clean. Our loved one has not really complained about the food and they offer a lot of activities. They are constantly keeping the residents busy. We do think the value for cost is pretty good.

We chose Ashley Court because they have 4 buildings that are geared towards different levels of dementia, so all memory care are not paired together. This way they can base activities on the level of care of each individual. They have different things going on every day and they are very creative. I cannot say enough good about them, it is strictly for memory care and I would recommend to others looking.

The community seems like they take good care of the residence. I feel this community is good for later stages of memory care. Communication is pretty good but I would like more info from the caregiver. I would recommend this community based on my experence
