I have been a part of Ashley Ct environment for almost 3 yrs now, looking in on a friend of mines’s step mom and also visiting there for an outreach through my church on a weekly basis. The staff is quite attentive to the patients needs and care and provides them with ongoing activities for them every day. I see the patience with how they provide this care even when it can be given under difficult circumstances (ie, when patient has other ideas in mind, are tired or just not acting themselves!) There are quite a variety of crafts, exercises, games, movies, etc.. that are going on continually when I have been visiting to keep the residents engaged as much as possible and not just sitting in their rooms. [name removed]and her staff do a good job of communicating with the resident families and are always available to speak with them about their loved one as needed. Seems that Ashley Court does a good job of making all feel loved, cared for as if they were their own family members!

The staff has been great, they treat my mother in law like they are her own family. They keep her very active and have a variety of activities (singing, karaoke, bingo, drawing, etc). For what they provide the cost is appropriate. Yes, we would recommend them to other families based on the experience we have had.

November 15, 2024We are so pleased Denise that you are happy with your mother in laws care. She is a joy and a blessing to us. We love it that she is always willing to join the activities. Thank you for choosing Ashley Court as her home during her dementia journey.
My sister is no longer with us but we had a great experience with Ashley Court. The staff is very friendly and caring. I loved the activities they had daily and on special occasions. They had a support group meeting once a month which was voluntary that I attended. Lots of information and sharing with other families. The 4 physical buildings were the same inside. So when my sister moved from one building to another she was less confused with her surroundings.

November 1, 2024Terri, Thank you for thinking of us and leaving a wonderful review. We enjoyed Kristine so much and we think of her often, especially when the music is playing. :) We miss seeing you and your sister too. The three of you together were always happy and fun. Hope you are both doing well. Stop in anytime for a hug, we would love it.
We visited 6-7 different memory care facilities for our mom, and are so glad we chose Ashley Court! The biggest reason is because the staff takes the time to get to know the residents as people rather than just patients, and they treat residents with the dignity and respect. The AC team actively looks for ways to keep residents engaged in ways where they can be successful. For example, they offer indoor bowling and you'll see residents participating from their wheelchairs, holding onto a walker, or just cheering others on from the sidelines. Everyone gets involved at the level that's most comfortable for them. We also like the fact that residents are separated into four buildings based on where they are at in their Alzheimer's journey. Bottom line: The AC team knows how to handle the ups and downs of dementia and are a great resource for families. We know mom is in good hands at Ashley Court, and is getting the best care possible. Thank you so much, AC team, for the peace of mind.

December 4, 2024Thank you Lidia. We appreciate your review and value your presence in our community. Open Arms Hospice is always there for our residents bringing them comfort and care and that is a part of what makes Ashley Court such a wonderful company. Our resident's, their families, our staff, and the businesses that we partner with start out as friends that become like family.
My mother has been at Ashley Court for over three years. Since the initial intake and few weeks of adjustment the staff has always been patient and kind. Soon this became home to Mom. During a few health crisis everyone has always been supportive and adapted to additional needs. Highly recommend.

October 21, 2024Thank you for sharing your positive feedback. We always look forward to your visits and so does your mom. She loves spending time in her "apartment" but also enjoys the activities. It is home to her and we are blessed to call her family.
Since my wife, [name removed], arrival, the staff have been very responsive to any request I have relayed to them. Staff members know who [name removed] is, and that I am her husband, most also call me by name. Activities that are scheduled seem to fit her abilities. Even if she doesn't initially want to participate, staff's encouragement will often change her mind, so that, she will participate, and enjoy the activity after all. Photos the staff sends, support her enjoyment of various activities.

October 18, 2024Thank you for awarding us with a five-star rating Dave. We are thrilled to hear that you are happy with your wife's care. We love that you visit her every day and she loves it even more. You brighton her day and ours.
This facility provides my mom without standing care. They only provide sufficient medication to meet her needs - no over medication. We like how they keep the residents out of their rooms and keep them continuously engaged with other residents and activities. The staff is very kind and considerate to the residents! We would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a memory care facility!!

October 18, 2024Your kind words serve as a great testament to the hard work and dedication we invest in our community and our lovely residents. They mean the world to us.
We had some issues with the nurse in building 3 We had no issues when in building 2 but felt there wasn't as much attention to care in building 3 The food was less than appetizing It was nice that they tried to include everyone in the activities...[name removed] is amazing Building 2 was more worth the money than building 3. We felt my Dad should have been in building 4 & maybe he would have had better care

September 18, 2024Maryann, We would like to better understand the issues you had with our nurse and the care we provided. Please reach out to our executive director because we would appreciate the opportunity to discuss them with you so that going forward, we can make improvements. Jodi Crow
They do not have good fill-in workers for their staff. We were not aware that we could order different types of food, but the activities were great. I would never put another family member at that facility. My suggestion to anyone checking out Ashley Court to have a meeting with all of the principals at once not just the marketing person. The reason for the low overall experience score, is because the staff dropped my mom and she had a fracture in her leg, which caused her to go from level three to level four, which took her out of Hospice. [name removed] is great however they have staff that they use for contract purposes to fill in and that was absolutely horrible. Communication between the principals and the staff needs to be more open. The staff was working with Hospice . They were not giving her showers because they said that was hospice responsibility. Hospice only comes in at certain times and they are to fill in the gaps miscommunication. The Weeeknd staff is filled with contract workers and they are very, very unfriendly one day.

Response from Ashley Court of Brighton
September 11, 2024We are very sorry that you feel this way and that your experience last year with your mom's care at Ashley Court was not acceptable to you. We loved caring for your mom, and it was a blessing having here. In this imperfect world, improvement is always needed, and we will continue to work very hard each day to keep our community a safe loving home that provides the best care possible. I would like to address your concerns and hopefully shed a bit of light on your discomfort but also defend the amazing staff here at Ashley Court. I'm sure you would agree that every story has two sides. You shared yours and we would like to share ours. Our staff has a very difficult job. They provide the care that others cannot or chose not to. Whether the staff is employed through Ashley Court or a staffing agency, they provide the best care they can. When you wrote about the caregiver dropping your mom, she did not drop your mom. Your mom was falling, and the caregiver went to reach for her to catch her and they both fell to the floor. This accident was very unfortunate, but it could not have been prevented. Her injury did cause her to need more care, and we had to move her to the next level because of her fall. She was on hospice prior to the fall and for her to be admitted to the hospital, your family had to take her off hospice. This is their regulation, not Ashley Court's. When a loved one is put on hospice care, hospice then becomes responsible for their showers and those are given twice a week. After your mom returned from the hospital in a leg brace, she was admitted back on hospice and showers were no longer an option due to her leg brace. Hospice was giving her bed baths. We partner with only the best hospice companies, and we work very closely with them to ensure our residents have the quality of life they deserve at this stage of life. In regard to the meal plans, we don't offer options to people with dementia because it's too confusing for them. If a resident is on a special diet or dislikes a food, we accommodate them with an alternative. Your mom liked soup, so we made her soup whenever she asked. She was such a happy woman, and she loved our staff. She always had a bowl full of candy that she shared constantly with us. We miss her very much. If you would like to discuss your experience further, please contact our executive director. Thank you. Jodi

My loved one is a resident at Ashley Court of Brighton. I would recommend this facility to others. Like any other place, they have problems with staffing and use temp agencies sometimes. It is very clean and doesn't smell. The move in process was great.

Staff is always short. Sometimes you have to wait a long time to get let into building. Food has sometimes been severed on paper plates.Because of the price, which has gone up 5%, it is still a good value for the activities keeping them busy.

March 18, 2024Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We appreciate you and your feedback. I understand your concern about the paper plates, we were running with only 1 cook per day to prepare, cook, serve and clean up 2 kitchens. That has finally been rectified with the hiring of 2 new cooks! I am also sorry that at times family has to wait for someone to answer the door. It is inconvenient to have to wait. I will bring this up in our staff meeting to see if we can come up with a plan that works more efficiently for all. I do have to address the "always short" comment. By state regulations we are always in compliance and a bit better. We are required to have a 1 to 10 care ration in buildings 1 and 2 where care is mild to moderate. Building 3 is required 3 people as care is higher as is bldg 4. We carry 4 caregivers (1 to 5 ratio) in each of those 2 bldgs currently which is 1 better than state regulations. So, I hope this explanation alleviates any worries you may have, now knowing that your loved one will get the care he/she deserves. Again, thank you for taking the time to comment.
We really struggled to find a place for my MIL where we knew she would be comfortable and safe, while also being a place we could get to easily and get accurate, timely feedback on her care. Ashley Court staff have been exactly what we needed. The people working there make all the difference. [names removed] and the entire crew are amazing at their jobs and have made one of the toughest decisions in our lives an easy one. For that alone, we are grateful. You won’t get a sales pitch, but you will get honest answers and real expectations…some will be hard to take. We needed time to be ready for this change, and Ashley Court has been there to help us all along the way. I can’t speak highly enough of our experience, and we truly would recommend Ashley court to anyone who needs assistance.
