Our loved one absolutely does not like the food at all, however they are doing some activities like bingo which is her favorite. They also have boccie ball and we do think the value for cost is fair.

I’ve lived here for 2 years and my main complaint is food quality and nobody is doing anything about it. We’ve had many complaints from residents to the staff and we’ve complained to corporate but nobody does anything.

I had an incident last week where ALL of the staff went above the call of duty in helping me to stay calm. I so appreciate all of them working at University Oaks! A BIG shout-out to them all!!!

It is a beautiful place. The parking lot is tight with a limited number of parking spaces. We chose this community because of price and the initial upfront costs were affordable. Her apartment is smaller but it seems quite nice. She doesn't mind the food, it arrives to her room on time, but she says there is too much sodium in it. We told them but we can't seem to get that resolved.

May 13, 2020Hi there, thank you for taking the time to rate and review our community. We appreciate you providing this feedback on our dining, our goal is to have happy residents and family members so your feedback is very important to us. Thank you
Very nice facility with spacious apartments and friendly staff. Also a great sense of community within the facility. The only reason for three stars is that the facility does allow smoking in individual living quarters.

I was a resident of University for 90 days. I moved in after learning of it on the internet and having a personal tour. I was quite taken with the design of the facility and the 2 bedroom I chose to rent. I was present with appetizing pictures and delectable pictures which were anything but. My definition of independent living was not theirs. There were residents just doors from my apartment receiving hospice care. Had I known that, I would not have signed the rental agreement. The caregivers were seen placing urine-feces diapers in the trash receptacles located in the laundry room where residents do their personal laundry, creating hazardous conditions: the smell was horrific. There are roaches in the facility even after an extermination sprayed. There is no security. There is a resident who has a mental condition who wanders around the complex all hours of the day and night unable to sleep despite being on medication. Residents are heard yelling and crying for help day and night, making it difficult for others to rest and sleep. I witnessed 2 deceased hospice residents taken out of the facility. It was depressing to see that. I know I had make a mistake. I personally felt that the advertising was deceptive and the management team were not forthcoming with what was happening there. I would like to get my $2,000 community fee back. I would would not recommend University Oaks to anyone. On a scale of one to ten, I would recommend a five. Two residents received serious injuries due to falls.

May 4, 2019Hello, we are sad you did not enjoy living with us at University Oaks. We aim to offer an environment where residents can age in place. Unfortunately during your stay we did have 2 residents under hospice care. Any caregivers on site dispose of waste properly and all trash bins are emptied daily. When there is any sign of pests we spray and take preventative measures from it happening again. When giving tours we do try and hide anything about our communities because we truly want living with us to be a good fit. Please reach out to us at [removed] if you have any additional issues or concerns.
This is a very nice option for an independent senior. If the senior recognizes their medications, can walk, eat without assistance, bathe and groom without assistance and has no signs of dementia or confusion then this is a very good community to consider. Residents are on their own. There are no nurses or doctors on staff. There are expensive ala carte “sitter” options from a healthcare office located in the building. Three meals a day in a dining room setting or meal delivery option. The dining room serves the better food options otherwise you take whatever they drop off in your room. Telephone service and internet service in your room is not included in your monthly fee. Your fee includes electricity, 3 meals a day, water, housekeeping once a week, cable and your rent. The workers are friendly and managers are very nice. They provide lively entertainment and activities.

This is a great community if your loved one is independent and mobile. The food service in the dining room is very nice. The food is tasty and reminded my mom of her home. Her favorite meals were breakfast and lunch. This really isn’t the right facility if your loved one has dementia or a medical issue that requires skilled nurses like LPNs or RNs. This facility is truly independent. The emergency necklace is a bonus if your loved one is able to press the button, it automatically dispatches emergency units which I observed quite often. Basic sitters are available for a rather costly price. The apartment bathrooms need to be renovated for handicapped access because I am sure there are lots of falls. You really have to assess the level of care your loved one needs because elderly people will need lots of help and that’s just not included in the basic rent, the extra prices for assistance is extremely expensive. The building is not secure, doors for access are locked at 7:00 but residents can leave at any time that’s why Alzheimer’s residents should not reside here. Also, anyone can access the building from 7-7 without questions so I would be concerned about my elderly loved one who might be confused. Over all it’s good for independence. Cable, meals, laundry all included environment. It’s all inclusive.

this is a nice community and the staff did a very good job with my tour, they took their time they showed me around and they answered all my questions. I just did not feel that this would be the best fit for my mom.

University Oaks staff have been wonderful in helping my mother and myself with her transition there. They even offered to give my mom a house warming party so that she could meet some of the other residents. My mom is slowly starting to get involved in some of the many activies they offer, she is not as involved as I would hope and still struggling some to fit in but they are working with her on that. Mom likes going to the dining area and she likes the different choices they offer on the menu. They do offer field trips, shopping outings but with mom in her mobile wheel chair it sometimes poses a problem but the ativities director is working to start taking them out more with their wheel chairs on shopping trips. I can't say enough about how helpful they were at University Oaks in working with our family and making my mom feel welcome as she was not too willing to make the move at first.

My Mother in law is doing great since moving into this community. She loves the food. They take good care of the community. They had a carnival and she likes to participate in some of the other activities offered. I would recommend this community.

Provides everything we need and more. The "Oaks" provides 3 meals a day, which as a bachelor our relative wasn't getting due to his limited mobility. They also provide a limited cleaning service for his unit, which, again, wasn't getting done in his previous apartment. In addition, there are activities and community right outside his door if he wants to participate, or retain his privacy if not.

I am very pleased with the service and support that my Mom receives at University. The staff is extremely friendly and appears to really enjoy caring for the residents. Most importantly, my Mom seems to be happy there. They really spoil her. We are very pleased with them, the food is delicious, the staff is very friendly.

They've been doing a great job here so far, I'd rate them a 5 out of 5. The facility itself is nice, the staff are friendly, and we were impressed by the services that they provide.

Their grounds could use some maintenance, trim some trees back from the building, that kind of thing. The grounds are beautiful, and hopefully now that the weather is better that will get done. We are very pleased with them, the food is delicious, the staff is very friendly. We chose them because of the holiday travel program, as we all live in different areas, so she can visit and have a place to stay. They do have rails and things for accessibility, but there are other things that aren't geared for handicap accessibility, like the showers and such. They don't have a wheelchair lift or ramp on the van. They are an independent living not assisted living.
