A Place for Mom has scored Amherst Meadows with 1 out of 10 using our proprietary review score based on 1 review in the last 2 years. Over all time, Amherst Meadows has 1 review with an average "overall experience" of 1 out of 5.
Overall, a terrible experience. Hallways stink at times. Most employees are friendly - others walk past you like you don't exist. My Dad waited almost 45 minutes for toilet help when I was there (he said it was not unusual,) and I once found him hanging halfway out of his bed with his head jammed against a rail. His nurse was helpful and professional, but my Dad complained about being literally thrown around by one aide. When I complained, the desk nurse stated that the aide "didn't know her own strength," and I later found out that the facility has been cited for patient abuse. My Dad stated that they had the same thing for breakfast seven days a week, and the food looked substandard. I know that they had limited activities, but my Dad didn't participate. My Dad was grossly overcharged for his stay @ $[removed]/day for a shared room compared to a much better facility that offers a private room for much less. The paint was knocked off of the wall in his room, and the furniture looked like it was rejected from Goodwill. I asked 4 different employees about the location of their "Lost & Found" to find some missing clothing and no one knew where it was, or if they even had one. My Dad was always wearing someone else's clothes. I strongly encourage anyone considering this facility to go somewhere else. If I had known about the rating system on Medicare.com, I would have never placed my Dad there. Thank you !! I hope to educate other families about this place.

A Place for Mom has scored Amherst Meadows 1 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
