Alabama Oaks has a charming appeal with its front porch. However, not all the rooms have adequate air conditioning. When we moved our mother in around the [date removed] we asked for a window air conditioning unit. It was too hot and stifling without one. A year later the owner removed it because he thought it looked tacky when you first approach the building. He never consulted with the family. The staff does not mingle with the residents. They sit in the kitchen on their cell phones. This place is not good for people with mobility challenges. There is minimal oversight. Also, the menu posted for the families to view was different than the one in the kitchen. Residents are served soup and sandwich every lunch, seven days a week.

Beautiful facility that takes pride in taking care of the residents while making sure they have a respected quality of life. The activities are stimulating and the front porches inviting. I would highly recommend!

Beautiful little home with 20 residents. It is owned by an individual with an RN running it. She was very nice. The downfall of that place was that it is an older home that has been converted so there were a lot of thresholds that my mother was nervous about falling on with her walker. There were only 1 or 2 rooms with private bathrooms, and the rest had to use shared bathrooms. For the right person, it would have been great. I liked the home atmosphere. They had a dining room, kitchen, and just a homier feel. My mother is pretty picky, though, and she didn't like it.
