As family members of our loved one at Aiken Memory Care we wish to commend the entire staff for the excellent BBQ dinner and Entertainment that was presented to us yesterday evening. The food, hospitality and attentive care for all the residents was above par. Special thanks to those staff members who have their boots on the ground there daily and who make such a difference in so many ways.

My loved one requested to move to Westminster now called aiken Memory Care. He was very happy at first. The staff was great and sent me pictures of him joining in on activities etc. Then management changed. Majority of staff he and I were accustomed to left in droves. When the last one left, she came to say goodbye to us, and when i asked what was going on, u could tell she was very concerned but never voiced anything. Then there were no activities or special care, just parked in front of the TV. Room door locked so he couldn't go in to read his Bible or just to have some private time. After I complained greatly, they finally allowed him in with the door open. Bed time was 8 or shift change. So he laid in bed till the next morning when they decided to get him up. The room wasn't cleaned as often. Clean clothes piled in closet or in a basket outside his door. Wet clothes like towels sheets and clothes thrown in the bottom of the closet. I would pick them up and put them in the basket in which i discovered there were baby roaches crawling on them. I talked to them numerous time. Asked for room to be sprayed. But nothing happened. The once caring staff was replaced by a staff that had no concern for the elderly. Right after that, I dropped in and found my dad in his wheelchair in the bathroom crying, running a fever. They couldn't explain how this had happened, just cleaned him up and put him to bed. The next day I came back he was back in his wheelchair parked in front of the TV, running a fever. Once again, they couldn't explain who did this and why a doctor wasn't called. After that point, he started going downhill. Another fact I want to note. When I moved my dad's things out they didn't even try to entertain the other elderly people, so they didn't have to watch us do so. They were very confused about what was going on

We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score.
