After touring a number of facilities we landed on Addington place. Cost and location were the key. Everyone was nice when we toured, we were told a lot of info about the place. Some true, some not. The turnover in helpers is much higher than they let you believe. We were also told about the Disney chef who makes great meals. I haven’t eaten there but haven’t heard one resident say they enjoy the food. This was one of the reasons we chose this place based on the sales lady’s glowing review of the kitchen. The staff is friendly for the most part and always helps when the buzzer gets rung. Overall I’m not displeased but I wish the food were better and it seems like you have to ask for things to be done rather than the staff doing things without prompting... Read more

I would say that all residents would rather be in their own homes and the employees make the difference, not the amenities.

The place overall has a beautiful soft friendly atmosphere. The rooms in memory care are nice safe and very accommodating for my friend. She is not very happy; she is a social person and there is nothing for her to do except sleep and look at TV. I expected her to have her hearing aids by now since they are covered by her insurance. She is ready to leave. She evens makes up scenarios that she and her husband with his deceased mom are either going th physical therapy or out to dinner. As a former 2nd grade teacher she loves activities or engaging conversations. .

We chose this facility because my dad wanted to be located in the middle of Collinsville so it would be easier to get rides from family. The staff at Addington Place is great. My dad loves living there because everyone is so helpful

We needed a place for my Dad for a couple of months. It was very comfortable and the people were grea!. It was easy for people to visit and there are parks and stores close by. The food was good and he received all the care he needed from the caring staff. We may go back in the future if we need more help.

The care staff was great, but the administration was not very cordial to deal with. If my loved one would need assistance, there were some care staff that didn't like to care for the residents. [name removed] gave a good pitch about what she would do to interact with the residents, and we didn't see this. Also, we never received a call back from [name removed]. It would be nice to see management be available on the weekends and have a staff member be able to answer the phones on the weekends. The caregivers were great. The nursing staff was a mixed bag in the care they would provide. The reason we picked this community, was because of the sales pitch we received. There was a delivery fee for delivering meals to the resident's rooms, and at the beginning we were told that the the resident would receive one meal a day in their room for free. The community wasn't able to provide the care types that they promised. The staff never bathed the residents, and the community would charge for this service, and this wasn't told to us. The medication management ended up being done by family members instead of the staff unless we paid a fee. The food staff was very good to work with. My loved one enjoyed the meals. We heard from prior resident's families that this was a good community; however, it was under a different name and different management, and things have gone down hill since the name change to Addington Place. The other residents were nice, friendly, and kind when we would visit.

Our family had an in person tour and the experience was great, it takes a special person to work in this environment and the staff were wonderful. However they have several floors and we just did not want our loved one getting more confused o top of her memory loss
Our family had an in person tour of the memory care unit and everyone was just asleep in the chair, not just relaxing but actually passed out sleeping in chairs. We overall just had a bad feeling all together and it was a big turn off.
Everyone we meet was very friendly and very helpful. I definitely recommend this facility. I don't see any problems with this community.

She seems to be at ease with them. I do believe they go above the call concerning my loved one's care. It's a clean facility and doesn't have a smell or anything. The staff is nice and friendly. I haven't tried much food, but their fried chicken is good, and my loved one doesn't seem to have any complaints. I haven't seen a lot of activities besides bingo and cards, but I know Covid has limited things.

We chose Cedarhurst of Collinsville because they were accepting new residents during covid. It was also convenient location for family and I had heard good things about it from others. The room sizes here are spacious. It seems to be maintained really well both inside and outside. I would recommend to others looking.

Response from Addington Place of Collinsville
December 20, 2018Diane Martin, thanks for your praise and kind comments about our team. Our residents satisfaction is our top priority and we are dedicated to ensuring Cedarhurst is a great place for them to call home. We hope you have a great day!
Overall, I feel that Cedarhurst of Collinsville has done a good job with my loved one. The number of staff members seems low to me, but they are still helpful and accommodating, the food is good, they have a lot of activities, and they keep the facility very clean. My loved one seems to be well cared for here, and I would recommend the community to others.

I'am satisfied with my mothers move to this community. She is doing well, and I know she is in good hands. They have a very good staff at this facility. They are attentive, and helpful. They do a good job with the cleanliness of the community. Her room, and the facility are nice, and clean when I visit. She would like bigger portions, but overall they do serve well balanced meals. There are nice activities available for the residents when they are ready to participate. This is nice, safe community, and I would recommend it.

I would highly recommend this community to others. It is very clean, the staff is real friendly and a lot of help. My father is doing great there, he likes the food and has gained some weight. He does prefer watching TV instead of participating in activities but that is normal for him.
