The food was excellent. We visited other places, but picked this community because it was a closer location, we liked the rooms. Also, it was nice and bright. They had a living room area, where family could come and meet. Without A Palce for Mom, I would not have been able to place my loved one as quickly.

I've spoken to a lot of people about Chery Blossom. I tell them that my loved one has been adjusting well. He has dementia, and one of the worst things you can do for a person with dementia is change their routine. So moving him there was really difficult for him. But he seems to be adjusting well. He likes that there are other people there, and they talk to him. I called him on day one or two, and he asked if I could give him a call back because he was talking to his friends. That told me how comfortable he was being there. He even liked when he had a roommate, which surprised me. He adjusted well to that also. The property is well spread out. There's enough space outside to go visit, and my family feels comfortable going inside now for private visits. One of the things I was really impressed with was how the caregiver handled some new clothes that I sent to my dad. The first thing she said was she would wash the clothes and get those right to him, when a lot of people wear clothes right away after buying them, without washing first. They seem to be very caring like that. My only concern is I've had to remind them to charge his cell phone. To me, that's important for someone with dementia who doesn't remember to charge it. But it's not a big deal because they always answer the house phone. It would be nice if they had phone charging on some kind of schedule. When I ask my dad about the food, he says it's good. At his prior residence, he would say it's not good, or okay. So I know he would tell me if it wasn't good. The day staff is wonderful. I haven't met the evening staff just yet. The director has a text line where I can text any questions, and he's been very responsive. He manages one other care home as well, and he recommended Cherry Blossom specifically because he thought it would be a good fit for my dad. Kudos to him on that. I agree. My dad is doing really well there. He looks great, and his dementia is not getting worse, which was one of our biggest fears. This has been a good move for him.

Greenwood Point Creekside in Issaquah, WA

Moving my parents to Dan Greenwood's adult family home in Issaquah was the best decision I could have made. They were living in a larger assisted living facility until my mother, who has advanced dementia, needed to be in a smaller, quieter and safer environment. When my husband and I met with Dan we knew that his home was the answer to our prayers. Along with being a very helpful and personable man, his staff is friendly and caring, as well. Moving is never easy, especially when you're in your 90's like my parents are, but it went smoothly and we couldn't be happier with our decision.

What are care homes?

Residential care homes are houses in residential neighborhoods that are equipped, adapted, and staffed to care for a small number of residents, usually between two and 10. Like assisted living communities, staff at care homes typically help residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, and medication management. Although residential care homes vary significantly depending on the community, services usually include:
