Clover Care Home in Shawnee, KS
5.0 / 5.0

Mom has lived at Clover Care for a little over a year, and we could not be happier. The caregivers are very warm and nurturing, and we have seen an overall improvement in her spirit since she moved in. We were able to see first-hand how an emergency room visit was handled, and left feeling very comfortable with the professionalism and care exhibited by the staff. The warm and cozy setting, family-style meals, and low resident numbers make this the perfect place for Mom.

I give them a superlative! They are much better than anything I have seen. It's a great model if you have the right people, and they seem to have the right people. I give them as many stars as there are!

Discover the many ways to pay for senior living

Planning ahead can better position you to make good choices for your loved one’s care in the future. But if your aging family member needs care now, there are ways to finance the cost of long-term care through a combination of approaches.

What are care homes?

Residential care homes are houses in residential neighborhoods that are equipped, adapted, and staffed to care for a small number of residents, usually between two and 10. Like assisted living communities, staff at care homes typically help residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, and medication management. Although residential care homes vary significantly depending on the community, services usually include:

  • Help with personal care
  • Medication management
  • Mobility assistance
  • Nutritious meals
  • Social activities and outings
  • Housekeeping
  • Laundry

Learn More About Care Homes in Lenexa, KS

Lenexa, west of Kansas City, offers plenty of services to meet its residents’ daily needs, such as shopping centers, restaurants, and healthcare facilities, in a suburban setting that lies within close reach of downtown Kansas City’s attractions. Many residents of Lenexa enjoy the high-end shopping options throughout the Kansas City metropolitan area, like the Lenexa Public Market and the Oak Park Mall.

In Lenexa, residential care homes — sometimes called care homes, board and care homes, group homes, or personal care homes — are often houses in residential neighborhoods that are adapted, equipped, and staffed to care for a small number of residents, usually 10 or less. Similar to assisted living but in a smaller, more residential setting, these homes provide supervision, organized events, and assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs). This means care homes can help with everyday routines but typically do not provide 24-hour skilled nursing assistance.

Cost of Care Homes in Lenexa, KS

The median monthly cost of a room in a care home in 2019 was about $5,500 in the state of Kansas. However, the cost of living in a care home depends largely on location. Since the homes are private residences, costs are tied to real estate value and therefore may vary greatly.
