Illinois has a number of provisions associated with this kind of community. The Illinois Department of Public Health certifies this type of community. This community type has a number of provisions pertaining to medication assistance. These provisions include only a licensed health care professionall employed by the community may administer medications, medication administration, and medication reminders. This type of community is required to offer a number of services. These include emergency response systems, medication administration, laundry, and housekeeping. There must be one bath or shower for every residents and one toilet for every 1 residents. The minimum number of residents for this community type is 3. There is a maximum occupancy of 1 residents per room. This type of community is required to have a staff member on duty 24 hours a day. Public assistance is available through A Medicaid 1915(c) waiver called the Supported Living Program and a 1915(b) waiver called the Managed Long-Term Services and Supports program. Before a resident is accepted, they must go through a service plan screening to assure their needs are going to be met. This screening includes a number of areas of interest such as evaluation of a prospective resident’s cognitive condition, evaluation of a prospective resident’s physical condition, assessment must be updated by a physician annually or upon a significant change in condition, and A comprehensive assessment. Staff members receive training in a number of subjects. These include: self-determination, reporting, disaster procedures, and choice. This community has a number of provisions concerning food and diet which include communities must provide three daily meals.
