This screening includes a number of areas of interest such as assessment to determine the resident’s physical care needs, A written care plan must document the assessment findings, assessment to determine the residents cognitive and behavioral impairments, and whether family supports are available. This type of community is required to offer a number of services. These include described as personal services, administration of medications by a certified medication aide, the provision of assisted self-preservation, and assisted living care. Public assistance is available through 1915(c) Medicaid Waiver programs- ) the Community Care Services Program is managed by the Department of Community Health’s Division of Medical Assistance Plans and partners with the Division of Aging Services and the Service Options Using Resources in a Community Environment (SOURCE) program. The minimum number of residents for this community type is 25. There must be one bath or shower for every 1 residents and one toilet for every 1 residents. This type of community is required to have a staff member on duty 24 hours a day. Staff members receive training in a number of subjects. These include: reporting requirements, attendance policies, 24 hours of continuing education during the first year and 16 hours annually thereafter, and general infection control principles. This community has a number of provisions concerning food and diet which include at least three meals, one nutritious snack, and any therapeutic diets ordered by a resident’s health care provider must be provided each day. This community type has a number of provisions pertaining to medication assistance. These provisions include assisting residents with storage of medications, assisting with an Epi pen, and communities must assist residents with self-administration if requested.
