Memory Care
My beautiful (92 years of old) mom’s health began failing very quickly (Alzheimer’s and congestive heart failure) forcing my siblings and me to find living arrangements with outstanding professional care. This was incredibly difficult for me because I had promised my mom, I would never put her in a “nursing” home, but we wanted to keep her and my stepdad together. So, we began the search for assisted living facilities in the area. Based off my limited knowledge of assisted living vs nursing homes and all the negative media of nursing homes, I was skeptical to say the least. I wish I had the space to list each staff member by name and what I appreciate about them. The love they have for the residents is evident with every interaction. I was talking with one of them after my mom’s passing expressing the appreciation I had for every staff member and what they did for my mom. She chuckled and said, “We aren’t perfect”. I suppose that is true, but they were perfect for my mom.
We have been very pleased with our experience with the community. The staff communication has been awesome. They will call anytime there is a change in our loved one. They are also available to answer our questions. There are three meals a day and they are choices for the residents to choose from. We have had the opportunity to eat the food and the food is good. They are willing to assist the residents with their food requests. They have even allowed my loved one to bring their own cereal with them for breakfast. The staff are good at encouraging the residents to dine in the dining room for socialization; however, if the resident isn't feeling well they will deliver the food to the resident's room. There is always something for the residents to participate in for activities. There is exercise classes and outings to name a few activities available.
I have recommended Taylor Place to others. The staff is wonderful, very helpful and caring. They listen to family as well as residents. The Activities Director keeps everyone busy and are always trying to keep the residents involved. The staff are cheerful and keep the facility clean as well as decorated.
