Types of care available in Orono, ME
They were under staffed but part of that was due to covid. They do a good job but only offer certain services. There was very little enrichment, but again due to covid. It is on the expensive side. The staff are wonderful, caring, friendly and always available. The facility itself is lovely- quiet location, beautiful gardens. Their focus seems to be more on memory care. They have less services for people with physical compromises. They really are doing really hard work in a difficult situation.
This review is for memory care: Staff is very committed to excellent care, and always available for consultation. After hours phone coverage is very sporadic and needs improvement. Memory Care unit should have its own phone number or extension.

A nursing home is a community that houses at least two individuals who have no familial relation to the administrator. This type of establishment offers its residents around-the-clock care administered by registered nurses. These caregivers provide healthcare services for people who are unable to adequately care for themselves.
Nursing homes can be a familiar and comfortable care choice for persons 65 years or older, however nursing homes will admit persons 55 and above (a rarity in the realm of senior care).Types of care services and amenities provided at nursing homes can include monitoring serious illness and unstable health status, social and recreational activities, 24-hour emergency care, and personal care (including dressing, bathing, and toilet assistance). Many occupants of nursing homes might have behavioral issues. These can consist of resisting care, verbal outbursts, or a tendency to wander. A large number of occupants are bachelors or widows with circles of support, and almost half of nursing home residents are older than the age of 85.
