Avila Senior Living at Downtown SLO in San Luis Obispo, CA
4.6

I would recommend Avila Senior Living at Downtown SLO. It's a small community feel. If you want extra special food, it may not meet your wants. But the food is cooked fresh and is planned by a nutritionist. You need patience waiting for food to be served sometimes. All of my needs are met and I feel safe.

Santa Maria Terrace
4.6

They have met and exceeded, our expectations for my loved one. It's very clean, and they are friendly. We are pretty pleased. We picked this community because it was clean, and the closet to our budget. It's been a very good experience. In addition, the rooms are larger than most.

The Village At Sydney Creek-The Villages in San Luis Obispo, CA
4.5

They have a high level of Alzheimer's care at The Village. My grandpa was doing well after he moved in. The staff were friendly and encouraged him to participate in the activities. He made some new friends during his short time at this community.

Nursing Homes

A nursing home is an establishment that offers residence to at least two seniors who are not related by blood or by marriage to the administrator. A nursing home community offers its inhabitants around-the-clock care administered by on-site nurses. These nurses offer healthcare services for those who are unable to take care of themselves due to mental or physical conditions, including age.

This type of community is a convenient and comfy living choice for individuals 65 years or older, however nursing homes will frequently take in individuals 55 and older (a rarity in the realm of senior care). As a resident of a nursing home, you can expect the right to get information on services and fees, participate in activities, get proper privacy, property, and living arrangements, and make complaints. Examples of care services and amenities provided at nursing homes might include room and board, rehabilitation needed due to injury, disability, or illness, wound care for pressure sores or a surgical wound, and patient and caregiver education. Nursing homes are required to provide dietary services, routine personal hygiene items, nursing and related services, and pharmaceutical services to residents. Often times seniors might decide life in a nursing home over another type of community due to a physical or mental condition that makes it difficult for them to accomplish the activities of daily living. Many residents of nursing homes are elders with interpersonal social issues. These can span verbal fits, resisting aid, or a tendency to wander.
