The Oasis of Dumas Assisted Living
4.9

The Oasis of Dumas Assisted Living is a nice facility. From the first time that we walked in, we knew that this was going to be a very good place. The Executive Director, [name removed], even came in on her day off to give us the tour. The staff was/is very accommodating and talked to us about our needs and wants. They gave us a tour of the place and even showed us some of the other residents' rooms. They let us look at the kitchen and see how they prepared the meals. They try to give it a family atmosphere by having everyone come to the dining room and eat together. The housekeeping is awesome, the place smells like a house, not the urine smells of a nursing home, or the hospital type smells like you might find. Plus the residents supply their own furniture so they can feel more at home. They even let pets in if you have them. They have laundry service and everyone's laundry is done separate from the others, so no mix ups or lost clothes. Overall, I would recommend The Oasis of Dumas Assisted Living to others.

They were very accommodating and sat down with us and made sure we understood everything. We felt comfortable there, we felt like it was a place where she would be well taken care of and we still feel that every time we walk through the door.

From the first time we went and looked at the place we noticed how clean and how nice it smelled, not like urine like most nursing homes smell like. They are super nice and very friendly and helpful.

Nursing Homes

A nursing home provides residence to two or more persons who are not related by marriage or by blood to the administrator. This type of complex provides its inhabitants with around-the-clock care administered by registered nurses. These caregivers offer health related services for people who cannot adequately take care of their own needs.

Nursing homes are a familiar and comfy living alternative for individuals 65 years or older, however nursing homes will frequently allow individuals 55 and greater which is uncommon for other senior care types. Types of amenities and services offered at nursing homes can include senior centers, help with shopping and transportation, injections, and adult day health care (which offers nursing and therapy) . Some services come at an extra cost which can include specially prepared food, special care services not included in the community’s Medicaid payment, and a private room, unless medically needed. Many residents of nursing homes are elders with interpersonal social issues, which can include verbal fits, resisting support, or a propensity to wander. A large number of nursing home occupants are individuals who have a physical or mental disability, have incontinence issues, require assistance with daily tasks such as getting dressed, or experience difficulty with vision and hearing. Nursing homes are required to provide routine personal hygiene items, nursing and related services, emergency dental services, and medically-related social services to residents.
