I live in Nacogdoches and work at SFA. My mother lived in Louisiana, we where in a hurry to find her a place. The people here helped us very quickly, we got my mother in and settled within a few days. Its always clean and smells good. My mother is always doing something when I go up there . The care is great , they have two nurses , and the employees seem to really care about the people that live there. The food is very good too.

My mother lived her final year there in the assisted living portion. My MIL has been there the last 3 years in memory care. The staff is great, the place is clean and neat. There are field trips, celebrations, and family days. This is by far the best facility of its kind I have ever seen.

Nice place, have had mother & sister there. Good southern-style cooking; all staff friendly, helpful, seem very competent. Price getting a little high with all the extra care they're providing her (sister).

Independent Living

Many seniors may be able to live without assistance, but cost of owning a home and the maintenance of daily tasks and chores might be a deterrent to enjoying an otherwise independent life. Independent Living Communities offer a good remedy. Meals, leisure activities and housekeeping responsibilities are handled for you while you are able to use your time as you desire. Along with their daily needs being met, residents can enjoy the opportunity to be among peers, surrounded by others of similar ages and backgrounds. Within the individual units, residents have access to a private living space and a full kitchen, and can even live with a partner if they choose. While policies vary between communities, a number of residences allow pets as well. If medical or nursing care is desired, residents may always enlist the services of private health care professionalls. There are an assortment of expenses and benefits to balance while deciding on an independent living community. It is important to learn if these services are covered in the care plan: utilities, transportation, cable TV, move-in fee, laundry, parking, field trips, and housekeeping. The amenities that pertain to independent living include concierge services, golf course, transportation, laundry service, community activities, private rental hall, healthcare center, and game/TV room.
