The marketing staff does a good job explaining about the facility with regards to how a resident will live and transition as their needs change. The facility is well maintained. They offer lots of activities for the residents to get out of their rooms and socialize. When my mother has had maintenance issues they quickly resolve them.

Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina

Independent Living

Independent Living Communities offer seniors a nice balance between living an independent lifestyle and not having to concern themselves with chores. Basic needs such as meal preparation and housekeeping are handled by staff and a calendar of recreational and social activities is maintained, allowing residents an opportunity to use their time as they choose, free from daily obligations. Along with their daily needs being met, residents can enjoy an opportunity to be among peers, in a community with others of similar age groups and interests. Typically comprised of a private living area and a full kitchen, these communities offer residences with many of the amenities of apartment life but with none of the hassle. Guests can be invited over and entertained, and more time can be spent with them with the basic maintenance of daily chores out of the way. While policies vary between locations, many residences allow cats and dogs as well. Nursing and health care services can always be arranged for with independent care providers if desired. There are an assortment of advantages and expenses to balance when selecting an independent living community. It is important to learn if these services are covered in the service plan: housekeeping, transportation, laundry, field trips, internet access, parking, private phone, and wellness program. The amenities that pertain to independent living include concierge services, laundry service, security guards, beauty salon & barber shop, healthcare center, game/TV room, private rental hall, and restaurant-style dining hall.
