Providence Meadows in Charlotte, NC
5.0

Providence meadows has been a great place for my dad and stepmother. Comfortable, clean, beautiful grounds, 3 meals a day and easy monthly rent. Their apartments have nice patios with woodsy views and very quiet. The staff have all been exceptionally helpful and personal. They get to know the residents and have been integral in helping me to help my dad. I highly recommend Prov Meadows if you’re searching for a safe place for your family.

Southern Pines
4.1

Southern Pines Gracious Living has been a very good place for my mom, small enough that everyone knows each other and greats you when you come in. Staff is curious and helpful when needed. They don't provide nurse care or therapy but have some companies on site that do. I could not be happier with those providers!

MerryWood on Park in Charlotte, NC
4.5

The residents and staff are generally very friendly. The food is good. The housekeeping staff is poorly trained and managed. The dining room staff are good and very helpful to residents. The chef won 2nd place for his entrée in the "Chef Wars" against 5 other facilities. The smaller size means you get to know almost everyone. They have an "ambassador " program in which every new resident is assigned an ambassador, or mentor, to help them navigate during their first few days here, with weekly follow-ups for several weeks.

Independent Living

If you desire the convenience of having your housekeeping managed while living at your own pace, consider independent living. Daily needs such as the scheduling of social activities and meal planning are taken care of, allowing seniors more opportunities to live active lives as they see fit. Along with their daily needs being met, residents can enjoy an opportunity to live among peers, surrounded by others of similar ages and backgrounds. Within the individual units, residents have access to their own private living space and a full kitchen, and can even live with a companion if they prefer. While policies differ between communities, numerous residences allow pets as well. If medical or nursing assistance is desired, residents may always enlist the services of private caregivers. There are a variety of advantages and costs to consider when deciding on an independent living community. It is important to figure out if these amenities are included in the service plan: parking, private phone, meals, move-in fee, transportation, housekeeping, field trips, and cable TV. The benefits and amenities that pertain to independent living include transportation, golf course, private rental hall, laundry service, fitness center & swimming pool, restaurant-style dining hall, game/TV room, and beauty salon & barber shop.
