Recently my father has been needing more help and we have looked at several assisted living places. We have had such a positive experience in a very difficult time. Thank you Oakland Assisted Living, we look forward to moving forward with you.
My Mom has been in Reed Place since 2011. She had a sudden and serious health condition that kept her and my father from staying on their farm. They were hesitant in the beginning, thinking they could eventually return to their house. Instead within a few months they loved the social interaction of being at Reed Place. Mom calls the residents family. They have appreciated the great care they have received, and we kids know they are safe and under good care.
They were incredibly helpful to me and our family. When my loved one was first checked in, [name removed] the nurse highly recommend we put her in Hospice. That was a shock to us, but when she fully explained it we agreed. It was absolutely the right thing to do. Her dementia was much worse than we realized. I can't find words to express how well she was taken care of and how well all the staff worked with us during this very difficult time. I and the family wouldn't hesitate to recommend Lakeside to anyone. They made us all feel like home.

For many seniors, the cost burden of home ownership and the upkeep of the property might be a deterrent to an independent lifestyle. Independent Living Communities provide a good solution. Basic tasks such as meal preparation and housekeeping are handled by staff and a calendar of recreational and social activities is provided, allowing residents the autonomy to use their time as they wish, free from daily obligations. Along with their daily needs being met, residents can enjoy the opportunity to be among peers, in a community with others of similar age groups and interests. Residents’ quarters consist of private living spaces, each with their own kitchen. The independence of apartment life is still enjoyed, offering opportunities to socialize with guests and visitors in a private and personal setting. While policies vary between locations, a number of residences allow pets as well. Nursing and health care services may always be arranged for with independent care providers if desired. There are an assortment of benefits and expenditures to keep in mind while selecting an independent living community. It is important to figure out if these amenities are included in the service plan: meals, field trips, cable TV, laundry, parking, internet access, wellness program, and move-in fee. The luxuries that pertain to independent living include laundry service, concierge services, security guards, healthcare center, fitness center & swimming pool, golf course, community activities, and private rental hall.
