Yuba Sutter Care Home

My Aunt was at this care home. Staff was great. My Aunt was very happy here. Seeing new faces and care givers. Staff is very friendly. Facility is has homelike environment. Environment is pleasant here.

My mom was here for almost 3 years and there are no activities. The staff barely speaks English. No communication. They threw away my mom's laundry without telling me. The health aide that is there full time has no knowledge of health concerns of the residents. I had to keep my mom there due to financial reasons and I had no room at my house. The nurse never shows up even wen someone gets sick. Also my mom never got her medication on time or on a regular basis. If she refused I never got a call telling me. Now we are dealing with an unfortunate situation and have my mom home due to the lack of knowledge and care of the 1 aide they have there. I would never recommend your loved to go here.

My mother's bathroom needs to be cleaned every day. The staff is very friendly but often there is not a "English" speaking person at the house. My concern is if my mother were to have a medical emergency, no one would understand her. She is pretty much self sufficient and they don't check on her very often. The meals are very poor. Lots of sandwiches. A piece of toast with coffee for breakfast or a jelly sandwich. My mother has lost 15 pounds in the year she has been there. macaroni and cheese for dinner or a bowl of soup. They offer no activities. My mother walks up and down the hallway by herself for exercise. (She uses a walker). My mother has a limited income, if she could afford more, we would definitely move her to another facility. I believe her care could be greatly improved. I have reached out to the CEO of the facility with no response or improvement.

Things are good here. Mom's only complaint is the food, she says all of the food that they serve is soft and mushy type of food (Cream of Wheat, etc). She misses traditional family food with more consistency. I think they do this because of the choking factor, but I wish they'd offer both. The staff is good. Sometimes there's a communication problem due to thick accents. But they do work with my mom really well. The facility itself is not in the best condition and could use some touching up such as painting/shades on the windows, etc. Housekeeping and laundry are included and done very well. I would recommend this facility to friends and family looking for a reasonably priced facility without all of the extras.

We look all over for our friend, and they worked with us in getting into the community. The community has lots of places to eat. They allow us to take our friend out of the community. It is a safe community. The staff always pick up the phone when I call. They always have my loved one ready for us to pick up from the community. The dining room is beautiful and the community is always clean. It doesn't have a smell or feel like an instution.
