My father spent his last year (2022) with Yama Family Services. He had been living at home but needed 24-hour care. Living in a residential home like the one they offer was a much easier transition for him vs. a larger facility. The owners and staff at Yama were truly a godsend. My Dad was always well-groomed and fed his favorite foods. The caregivers were professional, friendly, and skilled. One of the owners, Bill, would even sit and watch old football games with my Dad and talk sports. [name removed] who was his main caregiver really got to know Dad's sense of humor and different moods and knew how to get him to cooperate. [name removed] was always available by cell to answer any questions about his care. As my Dad's dementia progressed, [name removed] was able to explain how hospice care could improve his comfort and quality of life. When he passed, I felt love and support from the owners & staff as they were right there with us. I highly recommend this home and the lovely people that run it.... Read more

Yama house was a godsend for our family. The entire staff were truly partners in my mom's care. They were accessible and accommodating through every stage of my mom's journey. She had terrible wounds from a surgery and the improvement I saw in them during her time there was nothing short of miraculous. [Name removed] was skilled and meticulous in caring for them. They were so kind to my mom as well as to me as I was navigating her care. They catered to her requests in a way that was heartwarming to me. They were always welcoming to me and to my Mom's visitors. In the beginning my mom had a busy schedule of OT, PT and speech therapy. They worked with her therapists and always had her ready for therapy. The visiting therapists remarked that the staff was kind, competent and easy to work with. As she declined they assisted me in making hospice arrangements and worked seamlessly with the hospice provider to provide the best possible care and make her as comfortable as possible.

The place looks good and the staff [name removed] is very professional and friendly. I will recommend any family member. Based on the tour, the staff and the setting seems like they care so much for the residents. Their documentation and record keeping was impeccable.

I toured Yama Services Adult Assisted Living, and they were going to charge [price removed] per month. The area was very sparse and sad to me. The house I visited didn't even have a table to eat at. The residents looked bedridden and non-mobile. The rooms were military style, very sparse, and not warm whatsoever. The community we chose cost more than Yama, but they offer a whole range of things & activities, so it's worth the extra cost. My sister is not bedridden, and the community she's at has plenty of space and a nice dining area. Yama Services was kind of a scary place...
Response from Yama Services Adult Assisted Living
December 29, 2022We have checked all our tours and don’t recall having a tour from a place for mom around this time frame. First we have a dining table at the house which makes us believe this review is false and is likely from somebody personal or aggrieved staff. We provide the best care for our residents and we are willing to give you the contacts of past family members for real feedback. Thank you.
I had a terrible tour experience with Yama Services. Right when we walked in a resident fell and was on the floor and no body was watching. Then, when we met with them we were sitting in a room with a resident on hospice who was unconscious. I just got a very uncomfortable feeling about the place. Due to our experience I wouldn't recommend them.
Response from Yama Services Adult Assisted Living
December 29, 2022How do a family member on tour know if an existing resident is on hospice. This review is personal and not true. We provide the best care for all our residents. Thank you.
Our tour at Yama Services was fine, but the homestyle care setting just wasn't our style.
They take really good care of my mom here. It is a beautiful home, the inside is just really really nice and we are very pleased with our experience. She is in good hands and I do not have to worry about her which is great feeling to have. I would highly recommend them to others looking.

[Name removed] was a wonderful guide of the facilities and she is caring, kind and truly has the best interests of the residents in mind in all she does. The available room was not the right one for my mom, but I wish it had been!

The care at this community is very good. I like the staff that is attentive. We like the cleanliness of the community with the good environment. They need some more activities that could be offered to the residents. We would be happy to recommend this community for the care of a loved one.

This looked like a well taken care of care home when I visited. The owner was great. This seemed to be more of a care home for people with memory care needs and my loved one did not need this type of care. I would recommend taking a look to see if this home would work for your loved one.

The staff and facility is warm and welcoming. My mum's transition to Yama was seamless due to the home feel of this facility. I am so grateful to a Place For Mom for recommending Yama and I can't find strong enough words to express my gratitude and happiness to the Yama staff for the wonderful care my mum receives.

The home and staff at Yama Services is beyond words. The home is beautiful, well maintained and outfitted to handle the special needs of elder care. The grounds are lovely. The staff is so wonderful. The care given to my mum is exceptional. They are cheerful, upbeat and very friendly. The residents are very clean, well fed, happy and well cared for both physically and spiritually. The decision to give up caring for my mum was extremely difficult, but the staff at A Place For Mom and at Yama Services have given me ease of mind and confidence in the decision to turn her care to more experienced hands. Thank God for these loving and caring people!!!

Beautifully landscaped yard with a wooded backyard. Very friendly people. We were given a full tour and explanation of the home and how things work. Unfortunately my mother-in-law did not feel this was the right place for her.

I did not feel I was speaking with a medical professional. Majority of residents sleeping in the middle of the day. Lunch served late in afternoon. Residents didn't have any water near them or a place to sit water. Beautiful clean home but no activities for residents. No interaction observed between anyone.

They do an excellent job at Yama Services Adult Assisted Living. The staff here are extremely caring and professional. It unfortunately was not a good fit for my loved one carewise, but the people here were extremely accommodating and tried everything they could to allow him to stay. Even after he moved out they've called occasionally just to check up on how he is doing. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone looking into care in the area!

Our experience with Yama Assisted Living has not been a good one. They told us that they were able to handle a person with our loved one's level of physical limitations, but this was not the case. They did not use proper equipment or techniques and our loved one was injured with 24 hours of moving in. The bathrooms were not wheelchair or walker accessible, and she fell trying to get in. They also claim to offer 3 nutritionally balanced meals a day, but apparently they think pizza is a nutritionally balanced meal for a senior. I will say that the facility itself is very clean and well kept, but we were not impressed at all by the care or safety they offered.

You aren't going to find a better place than this. I've worked in nursing homes and my grandfather was in another place before that had more staff and much less quality care. Since being at Yama Services he's cleaner, better fed and most importantly he's happier. This place is like a real home. Its clean and doesn't have a nursing home smell. I instantly felt at home with Ama and her husband. Its a joy to visit the place and I don't feel I need to keep out eagle eyes on my grandfather because every time I go to see him he's happy and spoiled by the staff. Thank you Yama Services for providing a nice place for the elderly that is kind, thoughtful, diligent and respectful.

A Place for Mom has scored Yama Services Adult Assisted Living 9 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
