Overall, much better experience for mom. We get regular text updates (BP/oxygen etc). In the larger commercial facility she was in, she often stayed in her room alone and in pajamas. Here, she is dressed and in the main living area every day and interacts with other residents. The meals are home cooked, not fancy but good and much better than cafeteria style meals. I visit 1-2 times a week and have met several other family members.... Read more

I could not be more pleased with Woodcrest Senior home— one of my wonderful neighbors had her husband there until he passed. She always talked so highly of the owner and staff. When it was time to place my mom- I contacted A Place For Mom and they send me here to tour. Instantly I was so pleased. I then contacted my neighbor and she said it would be a great place for my mom. She has Alzheimer’s- and I am unable to give her 24/7 care. All the staff are so pleasant and have great patience with my mom. Sometimes she is a spitfire!! Lol. She gets a daily shower- which is sometimes difficult to convince Alzheimer’s patients- she wears pj looking warm-ups every day. Which is what she has worn for years so this makes my mom so happy. They get three delicious meals and several snacks/treats daily. I am telling you homemade meals— fresh baked goodies and a variety of drinks. The residents watch TV together- sing songs and do fun activities daily. I highly recommend this home!!!

[name removed] is very timely with her responses. The staff is very kind, and caring. The surrounding community is your average neighborhood. Overall, I would recommend this community to other families.

It is an older facility but it is clean, and the friendliness of the staff and their care services are top notch. They have so much patience for all the residents. The meals and dining from what we have gathered are great. The value for cost for the most part is good, and our loved one is happy there.

They did not know I had a tour (although it had been set up by "A place for Mom". (The other facilities knew I was going to be there for tours). The lady who was there taking care of the residents answered the door in her bare feet. The patients/clients were all in the living room in night clothes in chairs. None of them looked very responsive. This is a residential house. The rooms are very small. The lady showing me around did not know the rates of the rooms for respite care. She took my number for Velma to call me. It has been two days and Velma has not called. There is no way I would place my mother here.

I'm very pleased with the service and the care. Frankly I think the caretakers are angels. Sometimes I don't know how they're able to take care of my loved one at the times when she's not the most pleasant. I feel that she gets much better care here than she would in another setting. The patient to caretaker ratio is much better. The house itself is very nice. It's like being at home rather than a hospital setting.

Woodcrest Home Owner, [name removed] is very kind and gracious and cares about her residents, however,I noticed a strong hygiene odor when I walked into the front door of home, while wearing mask. I discreetly removed part of my mask to test odor again without covering, and it was an even more stronger odor. I was also concerned with the window box A/C unit in the bedroom where my loved one would be assigned to sleep shared with Dementia patient, who does not watch TV in room at night. In addition, my loved one would need to walk thru 2 bedrooms to get to her bedroom.I was concerned she may disturb the dementia patients as it appeared all the residents were dementia patients. Overall I observed that this home environment and residential community would not be a good fit for my loved one. I will contact [name removed] to thank her for the tour and express that even though she has a good home and community, I have chosen another community to meet my loved one's needs.

Met with [name removed], toured and saw private room which was available. Sad view of wooden fence. Not a good fit for my Mom, and access to neighborhood is through IH 35 and Loop 410, which is busy constantly and much traffic.

Love that there are only a few residents so caregivers know their residents really well. They call me if there are any concerns or my mom just needs to hear my voice. There is a very homey feel about it and not to clinical. I do wish they had more activities with residents.

I visited Woodcrest Home for Senior Citizens by myself and was impressed by the friendliness of the owner and her staff. She and I had a discussion about the care that would be needed for my husband, and she assured me he would be well taken care of. My daughter and I returned a few days later, and my daughter was also impressed. She thought it was very nice that [Removed], the owner, introduced us to each of the residents by name. That gave it a more personal touch and the feeling that the residents were treated as individuals and not simply bodies. We didn't observe any activities, but my loved one has reached a stage where he can no longer participate with the others. He has lived at Woodcrest for over a week and I am happy that the staff really seems to care about all the residents. Since it is a small facility, they can devote more time to each person. An added plus for me is Woodcrest is less than ten minutes from my home which makes it easy to visit every day.

I have no complaints about the tour guide that helped my dad and I during our visit, she was very kind. I just was not very impressed with the overall facility and the different things I had seen. I felt that everything was very small and cramped in the bedrooms. I also felt like it was a higher level of care then what my dad had needed. All of the residents where just sitting in there chairs and where very quiet.

Mom is adjusting well to living at Woodcrest. The staff are very caring, attentive, accommodating and look out for her. The entire home is clean including the showers and restrooms. I have not had a chance to see the food but the menu looked good. They encourage the residents to be social including playing cards. I would recommend this care home.

They staff tries to get them to engage in activities to a level of comfort for them. There are no complaints about the meals. I would highly recommend the Woodcrest Home for Senior Citizens.

My wife suffered a stroke and needs help transferring and getting ready for her day. The staff goes out of their way to make sure she's comfortable and happy. It has been a hard time for us since we aren't, technically, senior citizens. I couldn't ask for a nicer facility. On a side note, after reading previous comments, the showers have been rebuilt in the last 6 months and are now 'walk in'. Thank You, Vilma, and the Woodcrest staff.

Ms. Vilma and the staff at Woodcrest Home for Senior Citizens was a godsend! They too the BEST care of my mom in a CLEAN, friendly, upbeat environment where each resident is treated like FAMILY! I could have never been able to provide the QUALITY and dignity of care to my mother as well as they did. They did everything to support her feisty personality while allowing her to maintain her dignity and freedom to act independently as long as it was physically possible. In the last days, they made her comfortable and provided both the warmth and love as well as spiritual support as well as any family member could ever do, and they were also there to support our FAMILY both physically and emotionally. Thanks to the referral from Paul Hamilton with "A Place for Mom", my mom was able to live out the end stage of her life comfortably, safely and happily with the love and support she deserved. I sincerely appreciate Woodcrest and everyone there for all they provided.

Not as well maintained as Dignity Senior Care. Concerned about shower not being a walk-in type. Don't think it would be a good fit for mom.

A Place for Mom has scored Woodcrest Home for Senior Citizens 9.2 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
