When my sister was first admitted to Western Slopes, the dosage for one of her medications had been incorrectly entered into the computer. The dosage was supposed to be 500mg and the staff entered 125mg. A week later after my sister's condition began to deteriorate, I inadvertently became aware of the discrepancy. I mentioned this to one of the nurses, who said they were not able to change the dosage without a physician's authorization. I said that this was an error on their part and by entering the information incorrectly, they had already changed the dosage. I also suggested they contact her original physician to get verification of the correct dosage. They did not do this. I did noticed immediately after that, they changed the dosage to 250mg. My sister had a primary diagnosis of advanced dementia with schizophrenia as a second diagnosis. She was also a very active wanderer. Due to her deterioration, my sister began to refuse her drugs. Soon after, she had a setback and had to be sent to a hospital. I am my sister's medical power of attorney. Upon her return, Western Slopes talked my sister into signing a form for admission into an out of state psychiatric hospital. After the fact.., Western Slopes told me she was "surprisingly" stable and willing enough to make this decision. My sister would not knowingly commit herself to a psychiatric hospital. To me, the place was described as a "locked facility". I found out from the psychiatric hospital, that Western Slopes had misinformed them about receiving her medication. They also didn't tell the staff that my sister's condition was due to misdosing her in the first place. The doctor made recommendations for her medication based on false information. After I made them aware of this, they insisted Western Slopes send documented details about which medications my sister had actually received. I do not recommend Western Slopes to any one who truly cares about their relative. Yes, the staff is very friendly. That is what won me over in the first place. However, friendliness does not make up for incompetence or deceit. One last note.... I returned to Western Slopes to retrieve my sister's possessions. After much searching, we found them in a hall closet. Some of her clothes were damp where they had washed but not dried them. They had been placed in a trash bag along with the rest of her clothes and belongings. Although clearly labeled, some of my sister's clothes were missing, and clearly labeled clothes from other people were in her bag of belongings.
