My husband wasn't there very long. A couple of weeks after he moved in, he was hospitalized with an infection in his toe. He's diabetic and his feet needed to be watched closely. They didn't check them. I don't know what happened while he was there, I only know of the consequences of him being there. He spent 3 weeks at [name removed], from there went to [name removed]rehab for a couple of months, then to home care at a home in La Costa. He was there two weeks, had a massive coronary, and passed away. I blame the carelessness of the staff at Vista Gardens. Had he been watched and taken care of more efficiently, he wouldn't have had such a bad infection at in which sent him to the hospital, which began his deterioration. We had such high expectations. I thought I'd found the prefect place where he would be taken care of, safe, secure, and healthy. But i failed.

We had a great experience. They were in transition, under new ownership. Everyone was great. We picked this community, because It was the only one that was focused on memory care, and it seemed to be the best option. It was also recommended by friends. I would recommend to other families.

It is such a pleasant and quiet environment, it is on 4 acres and they have a garden, orange trees and plenty of places to sit or walk outside. It reminds me a lot of a park. If your loved one likes the outdoors then this is a very good fit. They have so many activities provided every day too. They have singing groups, books, games, chapel, a man cave where the guys can go watch sports etc. They present the meals so nicely and the food is really good. I would recommend to anyone who is looking.

The community is beautiful, well presented, it is all memory care and all on one floor. There are beautiful gardens, a patio and outdoor space. It is always kept clean and the staff members are wonderful, but just like most other places the staffing is an issue. The basic care needs and communication sometimes is lacking.

Vista Gardens has been wonderful for my mom [name removed] who moved out here from Upstate New York, Jamestown. She had lived in her home for 74 years making the move a big one. I can not thank the Vista Gardens staff and her amazing room mate [name removed], for welcoming her with open loving arms. My mom is so happy and the adjustment was so smooth. [name removed], [name removed] and [name removed], [name removed] and [name removed], [name removed] and all the care staff are the nicest people you have ever met. The feel at Vista Gardens is a family feeling with a lot of kindness. Keep up the great work. [name removed]

I thought Vista Gardens was wonderful, definitely worth a five-star. The community is beautiful, and the staff is friendly and helpful. Really, their only downsides are that they are quite expensive, and that they do not offer respite care.

On my tour I had with the community, I didn't care for it the place. I also had to consider that they were more expensive and far away. It was not a good fit for my mom.

Hello I would like to give one of the my most sincere , honest and best shout outs and reviews I have ever done to a truly fantastic place that I was so Blessed to move my mom to Vista Gardens in Vista Ca. . . .This place is so very Gorgeous with nice sized rooms and on my mom’s room a Jack and Jill bathroom ,It is very clean, Very Friendly , and has a great staff , and is truly just so very encouraging and uplifting as hard as it is on the family to place a loved one in a facility .It has a gorgeous patio for my mom and everyone to enjoy the outside and the sun whenever she wants that we were blessed to have an awesome BBQ on yesterday for Memorial day . I honestly cannot say enough though about the whole staff here, [Removed] and all the nurses and caregivers, Food workers , and [Removed] in maintenance and so many more .. Everyone here are truly some of the nicest staff I have found anywhere that make you feel loved and reassured that your loved one will be loved and cared for just like family. I have seen and talked to many many places throughout the North county San Diego area and this is a true diamond) mom is only 69 but has a Disabling Disease called Lymphedema in both her legs that has also made her very anxious, depressed, and embarrassed of her legs .It has been truly hard finding anyone who would help take on this challenge with her legs. It is truly one of the hardest things as her son I have ever had to deal with in life next to the death of my father .Please take my word when I say Look no further and take a tour at Vista Gardens if it is that time in life for a loved one. The whole staff is so very caring and loving. Mom was moved in last Friday 5/26/17..And I can not lie This has truly been a hard transition for both the family and the mom to accept but everyone here is so caring and loving and treats us all like family. I pray my mom calms down and comes out of her shell and truly gets to be a part of this whole family here with so many friends around her that will not judge her. I am not one to ever really do reviews but I felt the need to do this one for sure as everyone here has gone above and beyond to help my mom get settled in And I am just so Very Thankful.. One of the best parts of Vista Gardens other than just the great care and attention, is the many activities, awesome food and so much more is the LOVING environment my mom is receiving here.. I feel my mom will love it here and she says she does .I look forward to seeing Vista Gardens become part of our Family. I am excited to continue to see the fantastic care and love Vista Gardens has to offer to all its residents but most of all for my beautiful mom and also to finally get to see my mom have a Happy, Healthy, Active, and Safe Life again. With a quality of life that not many places can offer with her leg condition …. Vista Gardens is a 5 star all the way... I can not say enough GREAT things about them and look forward to years ahead here with my mom.. Thank you To the Whole Staff at Vista Gardens Thank you !!!!

We are happy with the care so far. My aunt is in a clean community that is also very nice. They staff are accommodating and they keep her insulin level under control. At times my cousin has noticed that they might be short staffed. He has felt uncomfortable leaving other residents unsupervised or unassisted. They seem to be doing other things.

In May of 2016, my sister had to be admitted to this facility with Stage 7 Alzheimers. Easy went out of her way to reassure us that Vista Gardens was the best place for my sister. As my sister was getting checked in, one of the residents came up to us and offered us some kumquats that he had recently picked from the pristine garden area. That simple act of kindness brought a smile to all of our faces. During our frequent visits we established many friendships with the residents, caregivers, cooks, activity directors, and nurses. Shannon, Emily, and Easter were so professional about meeting all of my sister's needs. Nikki in food services went out of her way to prepare some of my sister's favorite meals. Lito even let my sister use her personal phone so that she could listen to music on Pandora. Life is all about random acts of kindness but for this staff, kindness is an every day occurrence. You are the unsung heroes working tirelessly behind the scenes. On May 26, 2016 my sister passed away. I felt so good knowing that she was surrounded by so many kind people that loved her as much as we did. Shannon and Emily "thank you" again for being there at the end with my niece and for keeping her informed about the whole "transitioning" process. My sister is with the angels now but you both gave her wings and gently guided her to fly away.

My first 2 visits were to get more information about their respite care program and meet the staff. They were very friendly and the areas that I saw at the facility were very nice. The problem was that my husband did not enjoy the activities scheduled for the day he attended, although I chose what I thought he would like most and he didn't like the food. Since he has alzheimers, it's hard to put stock on his opinion. The one thing he might have enjoyed would be the golf fest but he said no one mentioned or showed him anything about it. Anyway, it was a disappointment that he didn't want to go anymore.

My husband is doing very well at Vista Gardens he really seems to like it so far. This was a hard process for me, and the staff has been very helpful with every step of the way. The community is very nice and very well kept, I haven't had any concerns with that. The food is great; I've had many meals and I love it. They offer great activities like beach trips. This is a community I would recommend.

My wife is at Vista Gardens and she is doing okay. It is a beautiful community. I would rate the friendliness a 6 out of 5! They are like family. I would say if someone is looking for memory care, this place is only memory care, not just a small unit, that's one reason we chose this place. The food is quite good. The kitchen staff is very conscious of nutrition. They do offer some activities. I saw a picture of her when they got her to decorate some Valentine's Day cookies. They have been very fair cost-wise. The management is very helpful.

A Place for Mom has scored Vista Gardens 7.2 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
