Facility over medicated my mom with 3 different anxiety medication that keep her unresponsive and feed her puree food and water until she inhale it into her lungs. Had to have paramedics transport her to the hospital. She was diagnosed with aspirations, fever at 102, UTI and a bed wound. Lack of care did not reposition every hours and insure she was dry. Before sending my mom to this home she was in another Facility and had none of these problems. Yes she did have anxiety and was already taken medication for that before coming to this home. The home called hospice and order a stronger medicine without my knowledge nor did hospice informed me. I found out because my mom was constantly sleeping barely waking up you will have to yelled her name for her to acknowledge you. The laziness of this home is ridiculous. When I asked the caregiver about my mom having a wound on her butt I was told by her it was very small when she hasn't has one ever. When the wound nurse came it was bad I saw it.

The owner and staff at Villa Christa are very nice and friendly. The floors and bathrooms are clean, but the facility is a bit dusty throughout. The move in process was not very good. At the time we moved in, I was given 35 plus forms that needed to be read and signed. It would have been helpful to have been provided the package at the time we paid the deposit so that we could read and complete the package PRIOR to move in day. The meals were not balanced, which explains why we were asked NOT to visit during meal times. One evening while I was there, the dinner served was cut up hot dogs and plain noodles. My impression is that they were not adequately staffed, given the types of residents living there. Of the 6 residents only 2 were ambulatory and the other 4 required assistance to move and perform all daily activities (toilet, bathing, eating etc.) but there were only 2 caregivers. Within 48 hours of my mother being there, she got a UTI. Within 11 days from that, she had her first pressure sore. At that point, I took her out of the facility. The caregivers did what they could, but with 4 non-ambulatory residents their time for each was inadequate. We were charged $[removed]per month, yet the website showed $[removed]/month. The value for money was non existent at the price we paid and I would not recommend the facility to others. My thoughts are that they need to add a 3rd caregiver to assist during the day and also significantly improve their meals by providing non-processed meats/protein and balanced meals.

The staff members are not capable of dealing with non-ambulatory residents. They are rotating staff every 6 months which is not ideal - most seemed to be on a tourist visa. English as second language makes communication difficult.

It seems they were hesitant to handle things that were uncomfortable to them. I think they do not pay their employees how they should and that is where the problem stems from. The caregivers were great and tried their best, it was just the management we had issues with.

A Place for Mom has scored Villa Christa 1.7 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
