Accommodating staff

I used to go to this facility a long time ago and when I came back to tour, I noticed they had done a lot of work to it. There are only 2 staff members here and they are very accommodating and one of them worked hard, yet gracefully, to get me in here. It is a bigger facility but it is kept up with well. However, there are a few minor things that I would like to see change. It would be nice to have a grill area outside and also a change machine in the laundry room. I would recommend this facility to other families.... Read more

First time experiences with Senior Living

After touring many senior living communities I decided on Veranda at Whitted. The tenants were very welcoming and friendly. The move in went very smoothly. The office manager was very helpful and accommodating any maintenance issues were quickly taken care of. They have a calendar that comes out every month and keeps the residents informed of activities and events happening during the month. They are open to the tenants recommending activities and events. All in all I had a great move and have settled in to my new home and look forward to many years of a healthy and peaceful future at Veranda at Whitted.

Rotten Root

Management creates an unsafe environment by threatening individuals who challenge her in any way. She has her set of rules (parks in handicapped but is not... has no problem having your car towed...), and a different set for tenants and their relatives. Management is uncooperative. For example: In an endeavor to make this a safe, clean, beautiful, comfortable, and connected place to live, a number of tenants have tried to create a resident's association, but management impedes this at every turn. We have had bouts of flies and maggots, and the halls constantly stink of trash, covered in a chemical odor mask. Maintenance is iffy. I do not recommend this complex.

Management, Amenities, Security Definitely Lacking

A Place For Mom helped me find Veranda at Whitted, and the service itself was outstanding. They went above and beyond to help me. However, at Veranda, the management, amenities, and security are definitely lacking. The sole manager in the community is [Removed]. She is incredibly hard to talk to, and is not at all helpful or supportive. The only amenities here are an exercise room and a pool room. Community technology was advertised, but the computer, internet, and television are often inaccessible to residents. Veranda is supposed to be a gated community with security guards, but the computers for the gates are often off, so they do not work, and there is no guard. Given my experience, I would not recommend Veranda to anyone.

I can not recommend it.

Management is dictatorial in style, lacks the qualifications and qualities to work cooperatively and effectively with people (not just elders). They have been non-responsive and or insensitive to tenant's needs. Poor construction quality: Sound travels through walls and floors. Some tenants have expressed that they are okay with the environment, but they tend to keep to themselves, have a life outside of the complex. Many have expressed that they will leave as soon as they can after their initial contract is up. Only you can decide if it is right for you. Cost is left blank as it ranges wildly depending upon whether or not an individual is benefiting from financial aid or not. Without any assistance, based upon what tenants have divulged, rent is somewhere around $750 to $900 or more (there are two bedroom apartments).
