The communication needs improvement as it is difficult to get accurate information on our family member. It seems very challenging to get answers to our questions - we can't get a bill, find out easily when certain things are scheduled like showers and when she had the last one, or when laundry is done or whether she ate her meals. Also I would recommend a system of wearable alarms that have fall detection if someone falls and isn't able to press their call button. It would also be helpful if check ins could be scheduled for folks who need some regular assistance with toileting.

The LPN that provides health assessments is terrible she spends a brief 10 minutes asking questions like: Do they know the date, can they memorize 3 words and repeat them after 10 minutes? ,etc. She makes a decision on their need for memory care after this brief encounter. If your loved one doesn't pass, nobody tells you, they just pretend like your going to come back and sign a lease and then they have their memory care unit call you the next day. Brookdale puts people in memory care if they don't know the date. That is a great financial decision for them, but not the best decision for the person. I had 2 other facilities recommend my loved one for assisted living, not memory care. The rooms are small, but cute. One complete hallway smelled like a dirty catbox due to one of the residents. That was really the only thing I found bothersome, other than being completely wronged and not communicated with.

Response from The Opal at Spring Hill
June 26, 2023We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback. Our staff is committed to providing the highest-quality service and care and we will share your feedback with our management team.
We toured Brookdale Spring Hill and we liked it, there was nothing adverse about it except that my mother has a screened in porch and would not have had one at Brookdale. Having a screen porch brings the outside in, and opens up the room so that it doesn't feel so closed in; that was a selling point for us at the other community. If Brookdale offered that then we may have gone for them because the community is less than half a mile from my house.
Brookdale Spring Hill was our second choice, we really liked the facility. The staff that we interacted with were SO nice. The reason we did not choose them was because the room sizes were too small for both of my parents to be in.
When we first walked into Brookdale Spring Hill community and everything is just so pleasing to look at, very modern and very clean. It looked like a really nice place, very welcoming, bright, and open.

We really like this community they just did not have the memory care that we needed for our loved ones.
Every Friday the staff cleans everything. It really looks brand new. This is excellent you also have several choices of food
Very clean and well lighted facility in the commons areas. Staff is very welcoming and engaged with residents. The relatively small number of residents would be well suited to many folks, but not for my Mom.

Sometimes the communication is not that great it is lacking at times, but the facility itself is very nice. It is expensive but we do think it is a nice enough community and we would recommend it. Some of the staff are absolutely amazing. We love the size of the community it has that more intimate feel to it. Our loved one is difficult when it comes the care services, we wish they would handle our loved one a little better.

My uncle was there for three years, many articles were stolen and their prices kept getting higher. Food was okay. Med staff was at times difficult and my uncle was always drugged. We had to leave him there because it was a locked facility. If a family has other choices..choose Brockdale last.

So far dad seems to like living at this community. The staff have been super nice and we have good communication with them. They are really good at checking on the residents. The community is clean and the grounds are well maintained. They offer a lot to do and encourage dad to be active. The food is good. I would recommend this community.

I was not impressed with my tour of this community. When I first arrived my tour guide was not there. From what they showed me this was not the right fit for my mother, and her needs.

My mom really likes the community and she loves it there. The staff are keeping her happy so we are happy. It is clean and nice through out the community. She loves the meals, the chef goes out to talk to her. I would recommend the community to others.

My first impression was open, light, and residents were alert and curious. The staff are upbeat, hard working and engage in many different facets of resident care. At meal times all staff participate in the dining room from pouring coffee, juices and water to serving the meals at the tables. After the meal, walkers are redistributed to residents and those that require it are escorted. The community calendar is full of a variety of stimulating events. With a max of 40 residents, In two weeks, Mom is adjusting quickly and is regaining her confidence. She feels safe and interested in her new home. I can sigh with relief.
