The apartments are nice (I guess that comes under "clean") the atrium is pretty, gives a sense of spaciousness! The on your own activities like the library and the exercise area are not stuck off in separate, closed in rooms, but are each on a different floor around the atrium. Lovely use of that space! One is a game "room," I think. The library is on [name removed] floor so I remember that one, and I thought he'd use the exercise area, so I had that one locked in my mind. But no. He does his "steps," walking in place in the kitchen so people don't "bother" him. Pretty severe introvert, that one! He did find "his" table of people -- the quietest ones all sit together. Another floor has a track they can walk around the atrium. I think it's linoleum, instead of carpet, but while they walk, they can look down at the people that are coming and going and checking their mail, etc. Even watch the piano concerts from at least the 2nd floor, if not higher. You can certainly HEAR it higher! Except for some repairs at first that seemed to drag out, the atmosphere is lovely! (replacing wet carpet, in front of the elevators, people had to walk on some plastic or something for what seemed like a too long time.) I THINK they don't have the lemon water cooler -- sometimes cucumbers or oranges -- That some others have, but I think that's how you get the more important things for the better price. If I could no longer do my many hobbies that require a lot of attention, I think I myself would enjoy the Montclair. Actually, I think, isn't Caimbridge that an Aldi is in the same block? They can walk without crossing a street! And they have a balcony for every upstairs room and actual outside earth that can be fenced in, in the back for the ground floor. I saw some pets and gardens in those fences. (Montclair has pets, too. Up to 35#. I didn't think to mention it because it doesn't affect my brother. He never had a pet in his life, except as my parents assigned one of mine for him to feed. I don't think he's ever had an indoor plant.) Cambridge has the atrium too, and a little more agressive activity plan. A rewards system for certain preferred behaviors. Like flowers on their balcony or wearing some tag or thing around your neck that helps them in emergencies. Then you get Caimbridge bucks to spend on practical things like shampoo and soap. Combs, toothbrushes. Probably not the ones that fit my electric toothbrush. I'm on the fence about the reward system. But to still "own" a patch of dirt outside my door (if I had to leave my house and things) would be awesome! That's a long way off yet. I think the Montclair is the best fit for the money for [name removed]. A little quieter than Cambridge (if I have the name right) a pinch more genteel, without the incentive programs. Lovely place. There were several others that were just as lovely, if not a little more, but the price was greater than his SS payments. This one just fit him in all directions. And I really like the "tour guides" at Montclair.... Read more

Everything was great. [name removed] and the staff worked with us as made the decision to transitioning my mom to the Montclair easy and not upsetting our mom. she is now settled and enjoying life with the folks there and very happy and we now have a peace of mind now that she is not living alone.

I'm happy with The Montclair for my loved one. He's found his people to eat with and it participating in bingo (not cards). He's free to go for walks. He finds something to do with his time and is far less reclusive than he was at his last residence.

Their is not much mom can participate in. They have re done the place, looks a lot brighter now. Not so dull looking. Mom loves it, that she can maneuver around in her chair.

This is the best thing in the world when you get to this stage of life. There are three meals a day served, and the residents are able to have anything they would like off the different menus. The staff communication is very good with the residents. There is a full kitchen and washer and dryer connections in the apartment that is very roomy.

It's been very convenient. They're a little slack on some things here and there, but I think that's to be expected, especially since they're remodeling right now. I feel safe here. I think it's a good place where your children don't have to worry about you. They provide your food for you. Everything has been fine for me. And the location is wonderful.

The people we met on the tour were very friendly, but the cost was just too high.
We chose The Montclair because we liked all of the staff members. We also really like the structure of the building, it is so well built and beautiful. They have concrete floors between each level so you have more privacy and it is well insulated and cannot hear your neighbors or anyone above you walking around. My mother is loving it here, they have so much to offer so you rarely have to leave. If you do need it they provide transportation for residents which is very helpful. It is an all around great place and we would highly recommend them.

We love it there. They're very friendly. The facility is clean, and I've never seen anything out of place. The staff has been excellent. The food is hit or miss, sometimes amazing, sometimes not so good. The cost is good, and overall it's been a good fit for my loved one.

I would recommend The Montclair to others for their loved ones. The biggest complaint we have with them is the food quality and variety. They have been working on making corrections to the food options.

Within budget but on the higher end. Has many of the options grandma asked for. Good location. Something about the conversation made me feel uneasy, Is perhaps too independent, charges extra for some of the nursing care.

There has been a change of management recently, the community seems to be influx. I would consider this place again for my loved one, but I also recommend looking around at other communities. The food is enjoyed by my loved one.

It is a very friendly community at The Montclair. Everyone I have met with is friendly and they seem content. The staff is very friendly and helpful. It is very well-maintained and clean. The staff is very welcoming to our family members when we come to visit. They gave us meal vouchers when we moved my mom in so I have dined there with my mom. The food is good, they do offer choices if you don't like what is being served. When my mom first moved in the staff encouraged my mom to participate in the activities. Now she is comfortable enough to know what activities she wants to do and knows where to go if she wants to join in. There are several different areas to sit outside and enjoy the sunshine or shade. They have nice walking trails to get some exercise. They offer transportation to shopping and other trips and tours. It is a very nice place. The maintenance staff is very friendly. They are pet-friendly so she has her little dog. She likes her apartment which she is still getting settled into. Moving from a three bedroom house into a small apartment is quite an adjustment. But I am pleased that she is happy and doing well.

I was very pleased with my tour here, the staff did a great job showing me around and answering my questions. They seem to have a lot of nice amenities for their residents and the staff was very friendly. They did have a studio available but my mother was looking for a 1 bedroom.

Dad is doing very well at this community. Mom does not seem to be adjusting as well. The staff have been encouraging and helpful with her. The food is a ten on a scale of one to five. They keep the community spotless. There are so many activities that you would not be able to participate in all of them. The personalized touch of the director helped us with our decision to choose this community.

The people at The Montclair were very kind and helpful. They seemed to have a very active community and the residents seemed happy to be there. The only reason we did not choose this place was because they did not have continuing care.

The tour I had was with a friendly person who was informative and invited us for a free lunch. The meal was real good. We saw an upscale community that looked like a fancy hotel. They allow pets but they are unable to walk on the carpet, a resident has to hold them until outside. There was no ground floor apartment and it was more expensive which ruled the option out. I met with the staff and they were nice.

A Place for Mom has scored The Montclair 9 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
