I thought the staff was generally ok. Their best memory person left shortly after my loved one arrived I think because of some internal issues, but no one would say exactly what happened. She had been there like 15 years. They also seem to have a lot of new employees, so I don't know what is going on there. I never had any problem with any staff. I think my biggest concern was there didn't seem to be a lot of effort put into activity for the residents. No regular exercise program and not very engaging other activities. They seem to park everyone in front of the only TV available. There's usually game shows on, no sports or movies or travel shows or anything very stimulating. I think if your loved one is still pretty mobile or is a man, there isn't a lot currently available in terms of activity there. I think it's a clean, nice place; I just wanted more for my loved one. Also, a big thing for me, tell your clients to read the rental agreement carefully. They use language that may make family members and/or POA's personally/ jointly liable for the care of their loved one instead of just the resident.... Read more

Poor communication between staff and caregiver. For instance I was not called when a leak occurred in the ceiling of my husband's room, necessitating he & his roommate to be evacuated until work was done. The roommate called his mom to tell her there was a fire in the room. My husband was very confused & alarmed. Two holes were drilled into the ceiling, never was told how much damage the leak caused to furniture, bed or rug. I did ask several times. Sheetrock dust & dirt accumulated under the holes on the floor & was not cleaned even when we moved out. I took photos. The dust & grime we found on everything was pretty discouraging considering we paid dearly for housekeeping!

Response from The Lodge Assisted Living and Memory Care Community
November 15, 2023I am the Executive Director and was sorry to read you felt our communication was not as strong as it could have been when your husband was with us. While the incident you mention was an unusual one, we'll use this feedback to look at how we could improve our communication going forward. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me directly if I can be of any assistance to you, and we wish you and your husband the best.
I have been visiting my friend [name removed] in Memory Care for several months now and am so impressed with the care she is receiving. Especially from [name removed] and one of her great assistants, [name removed]. Very appropriate hugs and positive comments. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. Comfortable furniture everywhere. A nice sun porch. Entertainment from guitar singers I have enjoyed and it’s fun to watch the residents enjoying the music too. Keep up the good work. It is so important!

Response from The Lodge Assisted Living and Memory Care Community
October 13, 2023Thank you for your lovely review Susan. We're glad to read that each time you visit your friend in our Bridge to Rediscovery memory care neighborhood who leave impressed by the care she receives. We appreciate your kind words for both our team and our community.
I had the pleasure of touring the community with someone named [name removed]. He was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable about the process and helped ease my concerns as uncontrollably cried in front of him. The building was nice, slightly outdated for what they make you pay, but you can feel the home-like environment the moment you walk in which makes up for it. Sadly my mother passed before I was able to move her in, however, I would have chosen the lodge in a heartbeat and recommend them to anyone looking.

Response from The Lodge Assisted Living and Memory Care Community
June 27, 2023Barbara, thank you so much for sharing this with us. We were touched to read about your experience and are so glad to know your guide was both knowledgeable and empathetic. Thank you for your kind words and recommendation. We wish we had gotten a chance to know your mother, and our condolences go out to you and your family.
Our family had an in person tour with The Lodge Assisted Living community and we had a really great tour experience but when we were discussing the price and cost we decided that it was not going to be the best fit.
Response from The Lodge Assisted Living and Memory Care Community
May 22, 2023Mitch, thank you for taking the time to tour The Lodge's Assisted Living community. We understand that cost is an important factor in considering a senior living community. At The Lodge we offer a variety of floor plans at different price points, and are committed to working closely with prospective residents to help them identify possible funding options. Please let us know if you'd like to hear more, or if we can be of any additional help as you explore senior living options.
The Lodge is a beautiful facility. It is warm and welcoming. They, like many places, are struggling with staff shortages. This often leads to delay in housekeeping and or maintenance. The biggest drawback that I have seen is a delay in responding to the paging by residents in case of their needs. This, too has been a side effect of the shortage of staff. The food, for the most part is very good, staff is in the process of learning, new culinary techniques and being educated on more nutritional and more flavorful food options. For residents who are able to walk, there are various activities and organized outings. Unfortunately, my mother is not able to take advantage of these options. Overall, it seems to be a good value for money. And the staff at The Lodge appear to honestly care for the health and wellbeing of the residents.

Response from The Lodge Assisted Living and Memory Care Community
May 11, 2023Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at The Lodge. I am the Executive Director and appreciate your kind words about our beautiful and welcoming community. Note that we are actively recruiting to add folks to our incredibly talented team and have recently welcomed some new members to that team. It was great to hear that some of the recent changes in our dining services are making a positive impression. In our Lifestyle 360 program we do offer a wide variety of activities and I am sure there are a number of these your mother might enjoy. Please reach out to me or our Lifestyle360 program director and we can help find ones that fit that bill. Thanks again for your feedback and for choosing The Lodge as your mother's home.
In January I found out I would need to move my mother from Assisted Living in California to Carson City where I live. I toured several Assisted Living facilities and felt the best about what I saw and heard at The Lodge. [Name removed] was wonderful and spent time with me touring the facility and going over everything that was available at The Lodge. [Name removed] invited my husband and me to attend a supper event they had in the dinning room before we had signed up for a room. This dinning room can't be beat! On the third floor with beautiful views of the western mountains out every window. Once we met the Executive Director, [name removed] we were sold. [Name removed] is a very hands on Director and a caring person. My mother is now fully moved in and extremely happy with her new room and the care she is getting. She is enjoying the activities that are offered and loves her view from her table in the dining room. I would recommend The Lodge to anyone who is looking for a caring, clean, well run Assisted Living facility.

This facility wasn’t as large as some of the other places that I had toured, but it was one of the cheapest. They only take 18 to 20 residents at one time on the memory care unit. Upon arriving, I notice that the unit is much smaller than other facilities and they don’t really have room for my wife to walk around. If I brought my wife here, I would be able to walk her around the facility as long as she was with me. While I’m not there she would, unfortunately, have to be locked in the memory care unit. One thing I really noticed is there had been a lot of management changes. When I went in I spoke with one manager and when I called they had told me they were let go and someone else was in charge. Besides that, all of the other staff members seemed to be fine and the caregivers were nice. I would have loved to pick this facility because my wife would have been closer to our home. I would recommend this facility to other families.

So far the place is okay. It is kind of too early to tell, but the staff is nice and the building is clean. There were a few problems in the beginning, but those have been resolved.

What was really important to us was that it had a good feel of friendliness, but also, the setup was really the best of the five properties we looked at. This place has a walk in shower in the hallway, wide hallways, one can maneuver in the kitchen and bathroom in a wheelchair. They are on the same floor as the dining room, which makes it easy and convenient to turn around. The place is very comfortable for them. So far the experience has been very good, and we're very glad that we found The Lodge.

We had a terrible experience with this community. Our loved one was only here for 3 weeks, and in that time she feel 5 or 6 times, and had an infection that went mostly ignored. The staff seemed friendly at first but the level of care they provided was absolutely terrible. We moved our loved one out, and would not recommend this place to anyone.

Everything is as expected except fot the dining experience. Staff is friendly & inviting. The meals are like high school cafeteria. Not much professionality in dining experiance. Feels a bit unclean. Washing seats with the same towel as washing table. Serving cookies & bread (no plate) on the table...I would expect a bit more professionalism & cleanliness. Nutrition comes to question? Have you tried the salad? Or the quesadilla? Not very remarkable! Otherwise, mom is pretty happy! Must work on food to keep her in this property!

It was nice, it was beautiful. We considered it, but it was in kind of a busy location, there was a casino right across the street. It felt kind of boxed in, not free flowing. They also didn't offer shuttle service outside of the Carson area, so Dr. appointments would have been difficult for us. Beautiful but not the right fit for us.
