There was a much welcomed management change several months ago, and things have noticeably improved. The common areas have been painted, new carpet and vinyl were installed, and I understand that new furniture has been ordered for these areas. A number of employees were replaced, and the staff seems so much happier and more responsive. It lifts the mood of the whole place. According to my mother, the food has improved. I eat with her occasionally, and I find it to be quite good. The activities director has been there for years, and does a great job keeping the schedule of activities full. We all love her. The new maintenance manager is proactive, not reactive. The place looks and smells clean, although I've never experienced the undesirable odors there that seem to be common in other facilities I've visited. The management staff is hands on, and I've been impressed with their knowledge of my Mom's activities and peculiarities. We occasionally have a glitch with her laundry, when it's done, and its condition when it's returned. Occasionally, we can't reach anyone by phone after hours, when Mom doesn't answer her phone. Now and then, something doesn't go as planned, but nothing is perfect. Overall, my sister and I are pleased with the Legacy experience, and I have to admit that it's probably a good value for the money. We feel that our mother is comfortable, safe, and getting the attention that she deserves.... Read more

Not suitable for anyone even approaching memory care needs. They should have known better. Staff need to do their jobs. ...they largely ignored the residents...at least those that were a challenge.

Help at night doesn't seem adequate. Atmosphere is pleasant Staff in daytime is mostly very kind The place does not smell like a "rest home"

Being realistic about caretaking, 47 older to very old folks, I think they do a very good job. Not perfect but very good. I would recommend The Legacy of Lexington to others.

December 19, 2023Hi Bill, We truly appreciate your positive feedback about The Legacy of Lexington, and your recommendation is a testament to our commitment to providing quality care for our residents. We welcome any additional thoughts or suggestions you may have as we strive for continuous improvement.
When our daughter and her husband moved to Columbia, we decided to move too. The 24 hour care facility my wife was in previously was good, but in warmth it couldn't compare to the Legacy of Lexington. Legacy is big enough to have all the services, more than she would ever use, and we realized the social interaction with the other residents was good for her. What was outstanding about Legacy was the caregivers actually loved my wife and she loved them too. My wife was happy at the Legacy of Lexington.

Our family had an in person tour experience and from everything we saw and all the staff members we spoke with it was a great tour experience
It's a small, warm assisted living facility. There probably are some places that are superior, but they'll be much larger and more expensive. Every time I go to see my loved one, her apartment looks squared away, and she herself looks like she has been well cared for. I would like to see housekeeping of the induvial apartments be better. Things are neat, but not necessarily the cleanest.

The community looked nice but it was not as nice as the other facility that we were considering. It looked clean and appealing and they were very informative.

September 29, 2021Terry, thanks for visiting us and sharing the feedback on your tour. We were glad to read you found the community sparkling and your guide was informative. People find that our warmth and hospitality make us special, so we would like to encourage you and your loved one to come back and spend some more time with us getting to know our residents, or even better consider a short-term "staycation." Please let us know if you have any additional questions, and best wishes as you explore senior living options.
The food looks nothing like the gourmet meal pictured above. There are rarely fresh fruit and vegetables. Canned vegetables and fruit cocktail are common Sometimes the chicken was so over-cooked and tough, it couldn't be cut, much less eaten. Recently the entire night staff was let go for incompetence. They seem to have a problem keeping staff in general. The staff passing out medications cannot even identify the various pills they are giving out. Staff answering a ring for assistance more than once opened the door and snarled "What do you want now?" They recently got a new head nurse who stormed unannounced into residents' rooms and confiscated anything that said "keep out of reach of children" by throwing dishwashing soap, hand lotion, cleaning supplies, hair spray, etc. into garbage bags. Needless to say, my family member felt like a robbery had taken place. Even worse, the doctor had written orders on file allowing self-administration of over-the-counter drugs and possession of cleaning supplies. The possessions were returned, but the emotional damage was done. Fitted sheets are returned wadded up instead of properly folded. Everything else comes back a wrinkled mess.

So far it's been okay. They are very clean and very friendly. They lost their cook and the meals are really bad. When she walked in it was everything she wanted it to be. They are pet friendly and really worked with her to keep her dog. We liked that it was a pretty spacious apartment, and a lot of the ones we saw were kind of small, and sterile.

it was clean and the girl who showed us around was friendly enough, it was smaller and they didn't really have much in the way of activities. They mostly just take people for rides is what I understand and most of the residents we saw were in robes with walkers and sitting around watching tv. She's pretty active, she likes getting up and getting dressed and going out to do things so I didn't think there were enough activities for her.
