Overall it ha turned out to be a great community. I've learned how hard they try to keep landscaping looking mowed and bushes clipped and sidewalks cleared. We have get togethers. Bingo is popular. The staff are good about answering questions and getting any repairs done. I've made friends here and realize it just takes time. Good value

They keep the community very clean. I am having so much fun, I have yet to fully unpack from moving in. The maintenance is quick to respond to requests. They have a lot of activities for the residents to participate in. They have a monthly dinner for the residents. They even have a community newsletter. My apartment has large ceilings and is very spacious.

Absolutely ridiculous. First off, this is changing from a senior apartments to allow anyone. Second, this place is a dump. Buyer beware if you're going to move your loved one, a senior citizen into this place where stairs are dangerous (no protection against the sun - if you take a tour, check it out), break-ins are common (three in the past week), and repairs are just a band-aide for the deeper problem. Like bedbugs? Well, the pest control truck might as well set up shop here, every few months someone's apartment is getting a bedbug problem. And on top of everything, some of the neighbors are whackjobs. One is gun happy, another sounds an alarm at 2 in the morning, and more yell at those with dogs. Do yourself a favor, move elsewhere. You'll regret living here. There are plenty of senior citizen places in Tucson avoid this one.

This property sounds good, however, it is located too far from us. I am giving it 3 stars for that reason only.

They gave me a good tour when I made the appointment. However they were expensive and that was not going to work for me.

This is a nice community for good care. The staff is very kind and attentive. The community is clean and has a nice enviroment. They do offer activities for the residents. I am happy to know that he likes his new home and feels safe. We would recommend this community for care for other families to tour for the care and comfort of a loved one.

Our mother relocated from Michigan to Tucson AZ. She moved into the apartment in October. The initial problem stemmed from the refrigerator leaking. The kept coming to fix it and after about the third time it stopped. Early November my mother started hearing water in her walls. She woke a couple of days later with a water soaked carpet in her bedroom. Our mother reported the situation. The maintenance man pulled up the carpet and dug up the floor which was concrete. They fixed the pipe under her floor and then re cemented the floor while she had relocated her bedroom to the living room. The floor took 3-4 days to dry and no one from the office ever checked on our mother or apologized for any inconvenience or discomfort. Our mother was sleeping in the living room even dur ing the time the maintenance had cement dust flying. After the floor dried it took another 2-3 days for the carpet to be re-installed. When we checked on the progress the leasing agent had no idea they had not even started the job. She responded as though the were finishing when they had not even started. \\r\\nWhen we approached the management company about the situation we were told they had done all they were going to do. Our mother is still here because she enjoys her neighbors but we will be looking at some other options when her agreement expires. This is suppose to be a community that is sensitive to the needs of the elder community but I personally feel, they were unprofessional and inconsiderate to our mother's need as an elder citizen. If there are any health challenges around the exposure to cement dust we will continue with legal counsel.

I cannot even give this place a rating. We relocated our mother here from Michigan. The first problem was her refrigerator, this was resolved. Unfortunately, 11 days ago she heard water in her walls. Subsequently there was a leak found under her bedroom floor. The carpet in the bedroom was crumbled in a corner and our mother has been living in her living room for the past 11 days. When we contacted the office for resolution all we got were false promises. On this day our mother was told the problem would be resolved. We have been here for 3 hrs and no one has been here. We contacted the management company Northstar and were told by Stephanie that "she didnt know what we wanted her to do. No one as asked what they can do to compensate our 75 yr mom for her discomfort in this situation. Still waiting. Going to contact Pima County for aging and an attorney for elder abuse. This will not go unresolved.

The Lakes is great community. They have great amenities. They provide shuttle service for shopping, which is a big deal for me. The place is by the mountain and I have a mountain view room, which is great. My balcony overlooks the pool and the sound of running water from my balcony is very relaxing. It sets the atmosphere for the day.

A Place for Mom has scored The Lakes Apartments 9 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
